The Evolution of Public Transportation

I got this idea when I went to visit some Universities. There was a man on the metro that was holding his daughter in a baby sling and cuddling her. It was the sweetest thing ever. My original idea was different from this, but I had to change it around some since it wouldn't make sense.

Disclaimer: Can't wait until February.

The Evolution of Public Transportation

The Age of Sailing

Arthur Kirkland found something soothing in the act of sailing across the sea. The way the breeze would wipe his face, it gave him the feeling that he could do just about anything.

England had many reasons to be grateful to the boats for it was thanks to them that he had been able to meet America and many of his other colonies.

He easily recalled sitting in his ship, arms empty and sailing towards the new land. He had been nervous for half the ride. He didn't know what to expect or how the boy would react to him.

He remembered coming back and sailing towards his homeland. Little Alfred had been nestled securely in his arms. Arthur had placed him in a sling and the child had fallen asleep to the soothing motions of the waves that had lulled him into comfort.

England had looked down at his charge and had felt an overpowering sense of joy and possibilities. He had kissed the boy on his forehead while young America had slept on. The waves seemed that much gentler.

Zooming By

Arthur could easily remember a time when the only way he could get to the other end of town was with a horse drawn carriage or by foot. Those times now seemed foreign and far behind when he thought about it.

But now technology had changed and he liked to drive his car in the country and even on the highway. However, he also enjoyed sitting in the passenger side and look at the scenery zoom by in blurs of colour and life.

Soaring High

Arthur Kirkland had always loved sailing the seven seas. He had fond memories of his pirating days. Through the years, he had seen the methods of transportation change and some new ones come to be. One of them had been the airplane.

England had taken to it quite well. He liked the thrill that came with the experience of flying over lakes and mountain tops. It was exhilarating to be up in the air and look at the blur of colours and the tiny dots that represented man kind below him.

Tunnels

However, the one invention he took the most pride in was the Tube, the subway or the metro. There wasn't a means of transportation that was more familiar to his beloved boat than this one.

For when he sat down and closed his eyes, the wagons would rock and sway almost as if they were being pushed by the gentle lapping of the waves.

Arthur could close his eyes and imagine that he was still holding a young child in his arms and watching it sleep gently in his arms, but things had changed and everything had moved forwards through the tunnel.

First and last are my favourites. If you favourite, please comment, it makes me happy.
