i have no idea where i am going with this. probaly just a oneshot. I don't know why the demons would want sam, but please review and enjoy

Dean groaned as he hauled his unconscious brother up the stairs. Monsters and demons, they all wanted Sam.

"Dammit Sammy!" he shouted, dragging Sam. "Wake up you jerk!"

He didn't know what had hit Sam, but in the fight, he had heard his brother cry out, and collapse to the floor. Now he was heaving his brother onto the roof of a house, and the only thing holding them back was a line of salt that would soon be breached. Dean heard the crash of the door as he finally managed to haul his ridiculously oversized brother onto the roof. He probably shouldn't have looked down, but he did. Dean's heart almost stopped. The street was crowded with demons and monsters. Everything him and Sam had ever fought had come here tonight, with the intention killing Dean. More specifically, they wanted to kill Dean and take Sam. Dean glanced back at his younger brother. He was still unconscious, head lolling on his chest, but he was visibly unharmed and breathing normally.

"Please Sammy…" Dean almost sobbed. "I can't… I can't fight them off without you. I can't stop them…"

He checked his resources. One knife, one round of bullets, a pack of salt and half a bottle of holy water. Not enough to fight off all the demons, not enough to save Sam.

Use your brain

It was like Cas had whispered in his ear and the gears had finally clicked into shape. He had to protect Sammy.

"HELLO HELL'S SPAWN!" he bellowed from the rooftop. Every head turned to the roof. Instead of silence, the demons roared and pushed and grappled at each other to get to Sam.

"Whoever takes my brother, takes the world! But bad news, everyone-"he stood up, showing himself off.

"Because guess who? Ha! Listen, you lot, you're all howling about down there. It's really very distracting. Could you all just stay still a minute because I AM TALKING!"

The desperate howling and wailing ceased immediately.

"The question of the hour is who's got Sam? Answer, I do. Next question. Who's coming to take him from me?"

Black looks form the hordes of demons.

"Come on! Look at me. No plan, no back up, no weapons worth a damn. Oh, and something else. I don't have anything! To! Lose!"

Now the demons were looking scared.

"So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little hosts, with all your silly little powers, and you've got any plans on taking Sam tonight, just remember who's standing in your way! Remember every black day we've ever stopped you, and then, AND THEN! Do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first."

Every word was worth it when the demons turned, and ran screaming back to hell.
