"Her name is Tanya, also known as Temptation," he explains scornfully. This is Rosalie's first time visiting the Denali clan and she's admittedly nervous (just a bit). Through most of the trip, Edward has filled her in on the members of this vegetarian family, their personalities, their aspirations.
But Rosalie suspects Edward is occulting something. He tries to avoid getting into old weathered anecdotes concerning Tanya or anything distinctly related to her. When she goes to Esme to explain this strange behaviour, Esme shrugs and says no one really knows.
Which is when Rosalie becomes convinced that Edward and Tanya had sex. And probably on Tanya's terms too which is why Edward is so bitter about it (he's always like that when he doesn't get his way)
But when the time comes for her to meet Tanya, Rosalie feels like someone plunged her into the cold wide ocean without a lifesaver and only the sun as company. Tanya is like that too, calm and sometimes dangerous as those turbulent waters and then when the storm has passed, she is like the sun that shines so brightly it blinds you to her flaws.
A walking dichotomy.

"What do you think of Rosalie?" he asks a week later after the Cullen family has arrived at Denali. Tanya grins wickedly and touches his arms ever so slightly to stop him in his tracks.

After he reads her thoughts, Edward storms out while Tanya laughs loudly behind him. He's not sure if she thought that on purpose or if she truly does think that.

"Would you like it if Edward joined us one day?" Tanya purrs into her ear, making her sigh contentedly. But immediately she tenses up. No, she doesn't want Edward to impose his presence between them. Her cold fingers grip Tanya's arm warningly, her eyes pleading for her to change her mind.
Tanya actually has the decency to look surprised. "Why not? Can you imagine us both tearing Edward's propriety to bits and making him a victim of our every whim?"
She laughs that tinkling laugh, mocking and plotting already. "For once, you could get someone to do what you want. You're so obedient to me all the time. You're starting to bore me."
Rosalie shakes her head but she knows she can't say anything that will deter Tanya because Tanya will do as she pleases and Rosalie will just have to get used to that.
