Title: Sealing the Faults
Fandom: Flashpoint
Rating: T
Summary: Post Fault Lines. Their eyes met and unspoken words passed between them. Then their lips met and it was an inferno of passion.
A/N: Just a little warning, this has some spoilers for the season finale (which was epic) and is completely what I dreamed up. It's just what I thought should happen. This is my first Flashpoint fic (and hopefully not the last seeing as I love it.) Please no flames. Enjoy and reviews are welcome.
The room was silent. They sat at opposite ends of the living room, staring at each other, almost is if they were daring the other to speak. The tension was palpable. You could feel the pressure of it rising as the minutes ticked away. They both knew what was happening and why she was here. At least, he assumed he knew. But she was unreadable at the moment; even to him. She sat, beautiful, with her hair tumbling around her shoulders and her knees pressed to her chest, on his couch. He had taken up a position in the chair at the center of the room, waiting anxiously for her to speak. Did she know how much this was torturing him?
She was practically shaking from the supressed emotions that ran through her. She used every ounce of training she knew to keep her face blank. But the sight of him sitting in that chair, his arms crossed and wicked blue/grey eyes meeting hers like lasers, made her shiver a little. She was trying so hard to make the words in her head make sense, but they were so jumbled that it took longer than she hoped to get them out.
It was Jules who spoke first.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" Sam asked, confusion lacing his voice. It hit her then; what she had to say. Do.
"For not being able to say this when it mattered most... I love you." Her voice nearly cracked at the admission, but she got it out. Shock ran across his face first, followed by happiness and love. He opened his mouth to speak but she held up a hand.
"I was so determined to stay with Team One that I couldn't even noticed what I already had. I let my ambitions blind me from what really mattered. I know that I would still fight to stay on the team, but you are more important. The interviews today, how close we were to cracking made me realize that. It also made me realize that if I lost you, I'd lose myself too." When she finished, she dropped her gaze and stared at her hands that had fisted in her lap. She was staring so intently at her hands that she didn't hear him approach. But then he was there, gently lifting her head with a finger.
Their eyes met and unspoken words passed between them. Then their lips met and it was an inferno of passion. She barely had any recollection of making it to his bedroom, just scorching kisses and gentle hands. After that, pure bliss and love.
When they were both drifting off to sleep, her head against his chest listening to his heart beating steadily and hands intertwined, he whispered, "I love you too."
She grinned in the dark and kissed him lightly before they both fell asleep in each other's arms, without a thought of what tomorrow would bring.
