The Eagle and The Lion
It's a year after the Battle of Hogwarts. Luna Lovegood has just finished her seventh year, and it's July. Hogwarts life has changed, but it goes on. Luna has decided to become a naturalist later in life. She has been dating Neville since her 5th year.
It was a cool summer night, and Luna Lovegood was sitting by the Hogwarts lake, alone. She was helping to repair Hogwarts over the summer and had just finished the work she had to do today. She yawned and looked into the lake, which was reflecting the purple dusk sky. She smiled and was about to lay down, when Neville Longbottom sat next to her, exhausted-looking. Luna grinned ear to ear.
"Just fixed that turret, did someone put weights inside that thing?" He wiped sweat off of his forehead and chuckled.
"I see you've also been working on the castle! You had to do a whole turret, poor thing! I just had to clear some debris and replace some of the flagstone!" Luna chuckled and placed her hand on top of Neville's.
Neville laid down on the grass and looked up, and Luna followed.
"That cloud looks like a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. And that one looks like a Furry Whizzerbee!" Luna said, pointing at the sky.
"And that one looks like an eagle and a lion. Look, there's a heart between the two!" Neville said, smiling.
They looked at each other and put their heads closer. They kissed, Neville's loose tie flapping in the wind and Luna's radish earrings tinkling like bells. The world seemed to be at peace, like nothing could go wrong. There were owls hooting, some Thestrals neighing, and cats meowing. 10 Seconds later, they stopped the kiss and smiled.
"I love you, Luna."
"I love you too, Neville."
They continued to look at clouds and eventually fell asleep, holding hands. If life wasn't perfect now, it would have to try really hard to be perfect later.
