Author's Note: Here is a one-shot of what I imagined Sam and Dean were thinking after Dean basically confessed to considering the Demon's deal at the crossroads.
Crossroads
Angered Sam silently sat staring out the window as rock music evaded the car. Sam rolled down the window in a fruitless attempt to decrease the stifling tension. How could Dean consider bringing Dad back? He knows better then anyone the devious behaviors of demons. Clenching and unclenching his fists, Sam glared at Dean. I know he misses dad, but really. He's not the only, I miss him too. What would I do without Dean? He's the only family I have. Was he even thinking about me? Still angry, Sam glanced at Dean. Thinking about losing Dean, created a burning in Sam's hazel eyes. Sam's glances softened as he nonchalantly wiped a tear from the corner of his eyes.
Sam's accusing and caring glances went unnoticed by the over consumed Dean. Lost in his own thoughts, Dean stared out the windshield at the road ahead.
I can't lie to him, Dean thought. It wouldn't be fair to lie to him. I didn't take the deal, I just considered it. It wasn't a bad deal. We could be a family again. Plus He doesn't know the pressure of having someone die for him. Dad never should have made that deal. I should be the one dead. Sammy could have a father. Dean blankly stared out the window at the road. I never would have taken the deal. Dad would have been disappointed. I can hear him yelling out me now, "Dean, damn-it, you need to take care of Sammy. What were you thinking making a deal with a demon? Damn-it Dean, I leave you with one responsibility…!" Dad always knew what to do. Dean's eyes glistened and he tasted the salt of an escaped tear which rolled into the corner of his mouth. Not wanting Sam to see him emotional, he quickly wiped his eyes.
Even though the deal was not a real possibility, Dean smiled as he imagined a life with his father and brother. A normal life filled with holidays, birthdays, and best of all, no demons. Dean was beginning to wonder if he was getting too old and sentimental for this line of work.
