Hey everyone. This story was written for both Super Drabble Tag and Fortnightly Challenges Thread's Snape Appreciation Challenge. The prompt I choose to write for is Shelf 2 6. Felix Felicis - write about winning something. I hope you all enjoy Just Name the Cat! Please!.

It had been three days since they had found the cat hiding in the bushes outside of their house. Three whole days and they couldn't decide on who got to name the new member of their family.

"No, James, I'm not going to name the cat," Lily sighed in frustaration at her husband as they both looked down at the cat in question. "You said it yourself that I don't come up with very creative names. I mean you almost didn't agree on Harry's name."

James chuckled at this fact because it was true. He had almost not agreed with his beautiful wife on the name of their newborn son. Sirius had been the one to make him see the right of things.

"Why don't we both come up with names?" he suggested. "And we'll have someone else pick the name that makes the most sense. Does that sound like a good idea to you, babe?"

Lily thought about it for a few seconds and the nodded.

"I can agree to that," she said a smile going across her face. "But who will be the judge?"

"Sirius and Remus," James suggested.

"Peter, too."

James nodded and then raced off to send for his friends.

Lily smiled as looked at the cat's face. What did this cat remind her of the most? She thought for a second then looked back down to the cat. It was right there written all over the cat's face. She nodded knowing what name she'd suggest.

James walked in a few hours later pulling Sirius, Remus, and Peter behind him. He motioned them all to sit and then brought over the cat in question and set it in Sirius' lap.

"We found this cat about three days agao," he told his friends. "And neither one of us think we'd be able to give it a proper name. So I called the three of you here to judge our names for the cat and help us come up with the right one. Do you all agree to do this task for us?"

"Of course, dear James," was Sirius' reply.

Remus nodded solemnly as he regarded the cat who was glaring at him.

"This is going to be fun," said Peter who was petting the cat.

"Alright then," James began, "on the count of three we'll each say the name we've come up with for the cat. Alright?"

Lily and the other's nodded.

"One...Two..."

"Wait is it one, two, then go on three?" asked Lily. "Or is it one, two, three, and then go?"

"Whichever one you want, dear,"

Lily nodded.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three..."

"Buttercup!" came both Lily and James' voices as one.

"Seeing as you both choose the same name," said Remus, "there's not much judge. The cat is now Buttercup Potter."

Lily smiled knowing that James choose the same as her to let her win. But that's all that mattered to her. She'd won one without Sirius having to help her and that meant the world to her.

I hope you all enjoyed Just Name the Cat! Please!. I can totally see Lily and James having this kind of competition naming their cat. It's just their competitive sides coming out all over the place.
