The Wild Fang

My name does not need to be known. All that you do need to know, is I am Lakshmi's right hand man. My loyalty lies with the Future War Cult, as did my brothers and sisters before me. They call me the Wild Fang, not because I'm wild, but because i get the job done quickly, efficiently, and I leave no survivors. I hide in the shadows, a Bladedancer, with a gift given to me by the Ahamkara, the last remaining great being on Venus that protects Campus 9 from the Darkness, with my very beloved sniper, The Chosen. She's saved my life plenty of times, and even modified by a woman over at FWC, gave me a suppressor for covert op missions around the worlds. My current assignment, recollecting an FWC expert on the Vex, and he's been hiding in an underground bunker for weeks at Campus 9. I have a fireteam, but I always prefer to do covert ops alone. I rode my Sparrow to the entrance of Campus 9, and climbed off the ledge to avoid detection. Walking along the rocks on the side of the cliff, i reach my destination, a series of walls and pillars. I hear the Vex calls and Fallen roars, as well as shock grenades and enemy fire. Perfect, I thought, just my luck.

I didn't expect a walk in the park, but I wasn't expecting Vex and Fallen to be here. I waited out to see which side I should assist, then take out mark by mark. It appeared the Fallen were winning. No surprise there, since they're capable of thinking strategically, unlike the Vex that swarm in numbers and use their short range teleportation to their advantage. I spot a hobgoblin staring at me, and immediately, with my suppressor already on the muzzle, one shot to the chest, done. The Reaver Captain leading the attack looks at me, I look back at him, a silent agreement passes. I wait for my armor to cloak, and jump to the pillar across from me for a better angle at these Vex. A Praetorian appears from one of the gateways, along with Harpies and other Hobgoblins. Take out the harpies first, I thought, let the Fallen deal with Hobgoblins, and I'll worry about that Praetorian.

One shot to their center and they were done. The Praetorian somehow found me and nearly crushed me with his massive mechanical body, roaring as he tried to stomp on me. I dove back, falling to ground level, firing two shots from my rifle and sticking a Flux on it, leaving a nice hole blown right through it. I landed on my back, thankfully on a bush and leaves.

I stood quickly, and aimed my Chosen at a nearby Vandal, then, I heard it, the Reaver Captain spoke! And I knew what he said, it chilled my bones and made my skin crawl. I saw every Dreg, Vandal and Shank back off to the edge of the area, Servitors watching intently as if they were analyzing data. The Reaver Captain disabled his shield, and, as if reading each other's minds, I lowered my own. This was a duel, one shot to determine who leaves, and who stays. A duel of skill, cunning, and pride. He dropped his shrapnel launcher and took a Vandal's line rifle, I removed my suppressor. This was a one shot deal, literally. We waited, and then, we heard it. A crack of thunder to start it off.

He teleported out of my view point, I use my blink ability to my advantage, knowing it's momentum based, and using it sparingly. I crouch, waiting for my gear to cloak me once again. As I stood, a shock grenade lands next to me, and I dive away. Luckily, I saw its light, where it came from. I threw a skip grenade, watched as it split into 4 seekers as it hit the radio tower, one broke away from its fall path. I aimed my sight in the direction i thought he would go, and I was right. He comes out of a short-range teleportation, and right into my sight, and looks at me a second before I shot.

BANG!

The echo rattled the trees and the wind from my rifle shook the leaves around me. What was once a noble and prideful Reaver Captain, now fell, defeated, shamed, and headless. The remaining Fallen had begun to disappear, as if being recalled to their dropship. I entered the hidden bunker that was underneath Campus 9, and met the expert I was sent to retrieve.

"I am Obin," he said. "I have valuable information on the Vex Minds, and possibly how to control them."
