ID card, notebook, pens, coffee. No coffee. Gotta get coffee. Damn, why am I so nervous? It's just college, ok, first day of college but still it's just college. The next 4 years of my life. Oh shit. Ok. Right coffee. I desperately look around campus for the nearest coffee cart and see a large crowd gathering at one across the walkway, glancing at my watch I see I have plenty of time before I have to be at my first lecture so I anxiously head on over, praying that a quick caffeine hit will calm me. I immediately push my way to the front (coffee before manners always) ending up near a blonde woman, casually laughing with the barista. For some reason I felt slightly jealous of her confidence, the spontaneous manner in which she joked with the people around her. I couldn't help but notice her –

"Yeah, you, what'll it be?" I jump ever so slightly;

"Americano with a double espresso and hazelnut shot please" I reply quickly, checking behind me to ensure the barista was in fact talking to me.

"Name?" The barista grunted

"Callie Torres"

He nodded in acknowledgement.

I immediately felt better knowing the copious amount of caffeine I was about to consume. I pull out my timetable to check where I need to go next, it would be a lot easier to read if I wasn't so nervous. Ok Birdsall Building, Floor 3, Willow Suite. That should be right over –

"I've a Torries, no, a Torres. Americano with a double espresso and hazelnut shot, Torres! Torres!"

"Er yeah, that's me, thank you" I haphazardly shoved my timetable into my bag and reached for the cup marked 'Torres' I assumed it was mine.

"Wow, late night?" a familiar voice joked.

I turned around, slightly startled. Who the fuck is that? It was the blonde woman again.

"Er what?"

"The mega caffeine sugar cocktail you're probably about to inhale' the woman smirked jokingly.

"Er –" The mystery woman bit her lip ever so slightly.

"We normally only reserve those after a heavy night of studying or well, other late night activities" she grinned. Seriously why was she talking to me? Jesus Callie, think of something witty to say, nothing that will make you seem like a goof.

"Ah I'm usually guilty of the former" I replied nervously. Fuck, out of all the things I could of said.

In an attempt to move on quickly, I looked around at anything but the attractive blonde standing in front of me. Damn she really was attractive, especially when she keeps doing that lip biting thing, she was slightly taller than me too, maybe two inches. That's a plus!

I spied her coffee cup, Ari…Ariz….Arizona.

"So, Arizona, that's a super unusual name, I've never heard that one before. Is that after the state or the battleship?" I replied feigning confidence.

For a split second the blonde appeared to lose her almost effortless composure, however she soon replied, as cool as ever;

"You know, you're the first person to ever comment on that. It's after the battleship for my grandfather. He served on that ship when pearl harbour was bombed and saved 19 men before drowning."

If I'm honest, I wasn't prepared for an answer like that. She seemed so cool, so composed and for that split second, more of a nano second, she seemed well less so. Even vulnerable, it was cute. She was cute. Ugh, Christ. What am I saying? I meet a girl and I'm already gushing over her! Jesus Callie. Like I'm ever going to see her again, like she'll even look again at me.

I only just realised Arizona was still waiting for me to reply;

"Oh wow, I mean, that's awesome, not in that way but just wow, that's so heroic"

Arizona gave a soft smile, I felt a strange knotting in the pit of my stomach, must be the caffeine working I thought as I took a rather noisy slurp. Fuck sake Callie.

Our eyes met briefly, I felt the knotting intensify. Woah serious caffeine hit, it was then I realised I wasn't nervous anymore, clearly the coffee had worked wonders.

"So, Torres? Clearly I'm not the only one on this campus with an unusual name" Arizona said, placing her hand on her hip, showing a quite clearly toned torso. Fuck.

"Oh…er….yeah, it's Spanish. Calliope, Callie Torres. Callie Torres" I stuttered.

"Robbins! Hey Robbins! Stop flirting, we gotta get to class!" Arizona turned around "Coming Altman! I better get to class, I should at least show willing on the first day back. Look there's a party going down at the bar across from campus tomorrow night. Bring some of your friends along and see if we can get enough people to form The Society of Unique Names" Arizona smirked. "It was nice to meet you, Calliope Callie Torres."
