"Well you're full of clart!" Deryn yelled down the stairs, her flight goggles followed over the banister nearly missing Alek's head. He sighed at the absurdity of it all.
"You know throwing a tantrum only proves my point." Alek said as he picked up her discarded jacket and goggles and walked up the staircase to meet his six month pregnant wife. She had sat down on the top step and had begun to cry into her arms.
"I just hate that I can't do ANYTHING. I can't eat anything without barfing it back up. My entire bloody body hurts and my knee is throbbing. All I want to do is sleep. And the worst of it are these barking emotions." Deryn cried, "Please just this one thing, Alek. I'll never be happy again if you don't let me." Alek sat down next to his wife, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"You know exactly why you can't." Alek sighed, rubbing her shoulders, "Deryn, it isn't that I don't trust you, but you have to think about the dangers. This isn't only about you anymore." He would love to say yes. Nothing pleased him more than seeing her after she came back from a flight, her hair mussed and her face glowing with joy.
"Bugger off." She huffed and hit his arm. A hiccup escaped her mouth and Alek knew she was beginning to calm down. "This is a bloody bother." Her irrationality was only heightened by these baby hormones.
"Deryn, I'm going to take you down to my study and get you comfortable. I will ring for some ice cream for you to eat until I finish my work than we can go out on a walk to see the new air beasties at the Airfield. While you are not going to be joining them in the air anytime soon, at least you'll have new ideas to put in your sketchbook." Deryn sniffled and looked back up at her husband. She wiped her eyes of tears to present her face a new.
"That sounds lovely." She whispered leaning her face towards his for a kiss. He pressed one to her lips before standing and offering his hand to her. She stood up as gracefully as her body would allow her to and took Alek's arm. Maybe tomorrow he would change his mind.
