A/N: Hey. Another story. Wow. I'm on a roll for ideas today. Disclaimer: I don't own anything except Lyric, as she is me.

Lyric looked around, panicking. She and her sister had been playing a game of tag in the crowds that had gathered for tonight's Mardi Gras parade. Now she was lost in that same crowd. After everyone disbanded, she searched for her father and sister, but couldn't find them. Lyric started toward a large cardboard box, seeking shelter from the rain that had started shortly after the parade. Curling up, she started to sob quietly. Just then, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jerking around, she saw a boy who looked only a few years older than her.

"You okay? Remy saw ya cryin' an' got worried. Wha's wrong, petite? Remy ain't gonna hurt you. Remy jus' want to help." The boy said, obviously concerned.

Lyric, remembering what her father had always told her about being strong in front of other people, especially strangers. So instead of breaking down in front of this boy, she just nodded.

"I'm fine."

"Non. You ain't fine, petite Remy don' know much 'bout not'in, but what Remy does know is dat if a fille says she be fine, and she be cryin', she ain't fine. An' Remy be an empath."

Upon her look of confusion, he laughed and explained. "Empath means Remy can tell what you is feelin', petite"

"Alright." she sighed, "I'm lost. I got separated from my father and sister. I looked all over, but I couldn't find them, and they're going home in the morning. I don't know our hotel."

"Well, where is home, petite?"

"Canada."

"In other words, too far ta hitch hike?"

Lyric nodded.

"Well, then come with Remy. Remy'll get you somewhere to stay."

"But I don't have any money."

"Don' you worry none, petite, Remy'll set you up at his house."

"So where is this 'Remy' you keep talking about?"

The boy grinned and bowed to Lyric.

"Remy LeBeau, at your service, petite." Straightening up, he added "But for now, let's get you out of this rain." Nodding, she followed him quickly, him ducking under a bridge, tree, or awning every few blocks to let Lyric catch up, catch her breath and rest for a few moments before continuing to their destination.
