For and dakota love's "Stick Situations Challenge". I like it, and I'm really starting to like Harry/Lavender. How odd. o.O
Harry sighed. He watched as Ron kiss Luna's hair affectionately. A few months ago, Harry himself had confided in Ron that he had feelings for the Lovegood girl.
He looked over to Lavender Brown, Ron's ex-girlfriend. She was staring blankly into her soup. Harry watched as Pavarti nudged her. Lavender just shook her head and got up. She left the table quickly, heading back to Gryffindor tower. Harry frowned and glared over at Ron and Luna, who were oblivious to the retreating blonde girl. Standing up, Harry followed her out.
As the portrait swung open and Harry stepped in, the sound of frustrated tears greeted him. Looking around, he saw Lavender staring into the fire with teary eyes.
Harry sighed again. He made his way over to the chair she was sitting on. "Lavender..."
She sniffed and looked up at him, mascara running down her face. "What?" she asked.
He crouched so they were roughly the same height. "There will be other guys that like you... not just Ron."
"Like who?"
"Well..." Harry paused. "What about Seamus? You were with him for a while, weren't you?"
"Yeah, but now he's all over Susan Bones."
"Oh..."
She ran a hand through her hair, making her look more distraught than before. "What's wrong with me? It seems like... like every time I get into a relationship, I just get dumped and they trade up and find someone better! What have I done wrong, Harry?"
Her big, lost, hazel eyes bore into mine, as if I had all the answers. "Nothing, Lavender. Nothing. They just... Seamus and Ron didn't realise what a... an amazing girl they had." Harry was starting to feel a little awkward. He wasn't very good when it came to girls.
She smiled a little, sensing how he was feeling. She turned back to fire. "Thanks, Harry."
He nodded and stood up. Making his way over to the staircase to the Boys' Dormitories, he felt a small, soft hand close around his.
Turning around, he saw it was Lavender's.
She smiled a little sadly. Harry leaned over and wiped the mascara from her cheeks.
"Luna's got no idea on what she's missing."
She kissed his cheek, and walked away. Harry smiled and thought to himself, Maybe Luna's not the only girl who I'm capable of liking...
Just a cute little drabble :)
Hope you enjoyed :D
