-1Note: Ya! Second fic, a one-shot about S/J ship. I was getting annoyed with all the happy fluffyness around their relationship just, being allowed. This is what I think would have happened…
Retirement…Again
Jack was headed for Hammond's office, every step he took had a purpose to it. People he passed seemed to notice, Jack O'neill was determined. About what? None of them had any clue as to what had set the Colonel on his march through the halls. Even his friends didn't slow him down, and a flustered Daniel was left beside an interested Teal'c, unwilling to follow Jack on down the hall.
His stride never faltered, but his grip on the thin folder he held tightened. They had agreed, this was going to hold no regrets for the both of them. It didn't matter if he couldn't see her daily, he could see her. He knocked twice before entering, the air of his being there caused Janet to leave hurriedly, not wanting to stick around to finish her report.
"Colonel?" Hammond leaned back in his chair. Damn, his chair looked comfortable.
"I'm retiring." He threw the folder onto the desk.
He didn't reach for the folder, instead he studied Jack's face. "No coming back from this Jack, the NID will be sure you can never be brought back to active duty."
"Good."
The General tentatively took the papers. "Jack…"
"General?" It would take him a while to be out of that habit.
"Are you sure about this?"
"Yes." He barely managed to hold back the sir.
"Don't think you're out of this yet. Dr. Jackson is on SG-1, don't think you're getting off that easy."
Jack left the office. Hammond would do what he could to keep him on the team, though he doubted he would manage it. There were a lot of people out there who were against him. And now that he was out of the military… But it didn't matter. He as heading back to where he had come from. Feet moving quickly and distinctly. His hand reached into a pant pocket, taking out what was hidden there. He was back at Sam's lab, her breath caught as he went down on one knee.
