Chapter 1

"But Dr. Kearns I-"

"I don't want to hear it, Ms. Stevens."

"He took my thesis! He's stole it off my laptop and changed the name on the cover to his!" said Jessica, shaking her laptop in the professor's face to illustrate her point.

"Do you have any proof?"

"Like what, the fact that my computer was hacked and he left a taunting email in my inbox? How's that for proof?" she asked, letting her temper get the better of her for the moment.

"That just proves that someone hacked your computer. I'm sorry. But you need a new thesis."

"Fine." she replied angrily, shoving her laptop into her bag. She whirled around, slamming the door to the office behind her. She walked down the hall, annoyed with the professor who was known for his favoritism of male students. He knows that Luke took my thesis. He knows it! She paused for a moment, looking in her bag for her book. She sighed, realizing that she had set it down on the professor's desk during her rant. She headed back towards the office. She could leave it and get it in the morning, but she needed it to help her finish her paper. She stopped near the door to the professor's office, confused by the voices she heard.

"I don't have it." That was Kearns.

"You told me she had it. You told me that she was the one." The other voice was deep and threatening.

"She isn't the one who gave it to me." There was a sound of papers rustling. "Here." There was silence from both people.

"This is the work of no man. This has all the signs of a woman's work." Jessica gasped. They had to be talking about her thesis. At least someone knew it was hers. "You told me there was no one here."

"There isn't. Well, there wasn't…" Jessica decided that that would be as good a time as any to make her exit, so she slowly began walking away from the door. She heard a inhuman yell behind her and looked over her shoulder. Her eyes opened wide. Whoever it was had a smirk on there face and was holding what looked to be a fireball in there hand. Jessica decided that now would be a good time to begin running. She made it only a few feet down the hall before she felt something rip into her shoulder and send her flying into the wall. She heard her wrist crack as she hit the floor with a thud.

"Ughhh." She groaned, pulling herself to her feet. "What do you want from me?" she asked, trying to ignore the stabbing pain in her wrist. Before the mysterious person could answer, three more women appeared, materializing out of some sort of blue dust. All Jessica could do was gape as one just waved her hand at the figure, who promptly exploded. They didn't seem to notice her at first.

"What was she doing here, Piper?"

"Oh, I don't know Phoebe, evil?"

"Don't snap at me because Wyatt spat up on you." Jessica just looked a bit shell-shocked by this whole thing. The closest she had ever gotten to magic was movies and books.

"Hellooo." said one, pushing the other two women out of the way. "Jessica Stevens?" The woman who asked the question had red hair, and was rather pale.

"Yes.." said Jessica, cradling her wrist in her other hand.

"This is her. This is my new charge."

"I'm your new what?" asked Jessica, becoming more and more confused by the second.

"Charge. You know, I'm your new white lighter?" The confused look on Jessica's face earned confused looks from the other three women.

"She doesn't know any of this." concluded Piper.

"I love it when the Elders don't bother to mention that." said the one who had called herself her white lighter.

"Paige, just get us back to the house."

"Yep." Paige said, putting a hand on Jessica's arm, and on Piper's, who was now holding onto Phoebe's hand. One second they were in the hall of the university, a flash of blue, and they were gone.
