WAY UP NORTH

Nothing good ever happened at midnight. Case in point—the current situation in which the Winchesters found themselves. Trapped by a bunch of angry elves who looked nothing like the cute Keebler elf on the boxes of cookies and crackers. No, these elves looked mean and murderous.
"Dean, what do we do now?" hissed Sam quietly.
"I don't know."
"How'd you manage to piss off Santa's elves anyway? This was supposed to be a humanitarian effort."
"I...I kinda borrowed one of the toys they were working on..."
Sam stared at Dean in horror. "You STOLE a toy from Santa's workshop?!"
"I didn't mean to!" declared Dean emphatically. "I was just looking at it 'cause it was kinda cool, right? Then I somehow put it in my pocket for just a minute...and then I forgot about it..." Dean paused as the elves collectively growled menacingly.
"So give it back!" demanded Sam.
Dean squirmed and rubbed at the back of his neck. "See that's the problem. I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because it fell out of my pocket when we were running for our lives."
Sam groaned. "Great. Just great."
"Wait—I have an idea." Without warning, Dean stood, revealing their hiding place.
Sam tugged frantically on the back of Dean's shirt trying to pull him back down. "Are you crazy?"
"No...shhh..." Dean cleared his throat and abruptly started belting out a random Christmas carol—badly. When he saw the elves suddenly stop and begin to sway to and fro with the music, he motioned for Sam to stand and join him.
Within minutes, their incredibly out-of-tune singing had the elves mesmerized and they began singing the jolly tunes themselves. Dean turned to Sam and mouthed, "Go, go!"
And they did, running long into the night.
