Just a short and sweet moment from Crona's POV!
When Crona became friends with Maka, he knew he'd found a good friend. He was willing to protect her no matter what, and he was learning, slowly learning... to become better friends with everyone at the DWMA.
But, as Crona became familiar with everyone else, he also became familiar with Soul. He and Soul seemed like complete opposites, yet they had one thing in common: Maka. Crona's feelings for Maka were intense, but they could not compare the intense feelings he saw that Soul had for Maka, and vice versa. He was willing to die for her, as Crona observed. He nearly broke down every time she was mortally wounded, and she broke down for him too. When she was unable to fight, he would just sit there and hold her, not hesitating to shield her if something came in her way. Sure, Crona knew that Maka was totally capable of taking care of herself, but he would constantly hear people say, "Maka will be alright, especially if she's got Soul by her side."
Especially now. They seemed very close now. Maka and Crona would always talk about everything, and it even came to one conversation:
"Maka... do you like Soul?" a very anxious Crona asked one day.
"Of course I do, Crona. If I didn't, I wouldn't be his Miester!"
"Yeah, but... apart from that. I was around Patty and Liz the other day, and..."
"Oh. You mean that kind of liking..."
"Yeah,"
"Well, to be honest, I've never... thought about it..." Maka twisted her hair nervously and looked out the window. They were at Maka and Soul's apartment, but Soul was at Black Star's for heaven knows what. Blair the cat couldn't help overhearing and she giggled.
"Sounds like someone's got a crush!"
"No I don't! Shut up Blair!" Maka growled, a blush on her face. They changed the subject and got some lunch in the kitchen.
And then another day...
Crona was with Liz, Patty, Kid, and Soul, and Maka had gone to the bathroom.
"Soul, you're totally into Maka," Liz said while examining her nails.
"What're you talking about..." Soul grumbled. Patty giggled.
"They looove each other!" (Fairy Tail reference anybody?) she said between laughs.
"What..?!"
"Oh, c'mon, it's so obvious," Liz said. Kid shrugged in agreement.
"Whatever," Soul said while he tried to brush it off nonchalantly, but a bit of red appeared on his cheeks. Maka came back before the conversation could go on longer.
So, he knew, that eventually, something was bound to happen between them, but when it did...
Crona would be the one to protect Maka's heart, because Soul would only steal it away.
