Just a small drabble.

"You should practice, Merlin." Merlin mimicked from his spot on the ground. "Practice makes perfect." He was speaking in a high-pitched voice as he picked himself off the floor for the ump-teenth time in ten minutes. "Why do I need to learn to dance? No one's ever gonna ask. And everyone will be looking at the prat."

Merlin got himself back up and started to practice the dance steps Gwen was teaching him...slowly.

Arthur's birthday celebration was happening soon, and even though as Arthur's manservant, he would stand behind Arthur and fill up his glass through out the celebration. However, the King decided that once most of the noble's retire, that the servants could join in.

Merlin's pretty sure Arthur only decided this after finding out Merlin had ZERO rhythm.

Gwen, however, was kind enough to teach the basic steps to him. Which is what he was practicing.

"Ow!" or trying to.

"Really Merlin?" Arthur asked from the doorway into his room, where his servant was falling down.

Merlin pulled himself up. "It's harder than it looks."

Arthur just rolled his eyes and held a hand out to Merlin.

Merlin was staring at his hand. "What?"

Arthur walked up to Merlin, grabbed his hand and pulled them together. When they were really close, Arthur rearranged the hand he was holding and placing Merlin's other hand on his shoulder.

"Can't have my manservant falling everywhere." Arthur said as an explanation.

Merlin nodded, blushing a bit at the sudden closeness.

"You know the basic steps?" Arthur asked. Merlin nodded. "Good. Look at me." Merlin lifted his head from looking at his feet, to looking at the King. "Step back, and 1, 2, 3."

Arthur started counting with Merlin following the lead. Merlin was focusing really hard and ended up stepping on Arthur's feet a few times.

Each time, Arthur would start over. Not even getting mad at Merlin, which surprised the sorcerer.

A few minutes after the 4th foot stomp, Merlin started getting it. Wasn't even trying to look down at his feet.

"There." Arthur said, as they stopped dancing. "Now, you won't be so terrible."

Merlin rolled his eyes. "I would've got it eventually."

"Sure Merlin." Arthur said, indulging the smaller boy.

"I would've!" Merlin defended.

Arthur just chuckled at the outburst.

Neither of them have yet to move apart from the other. Merlin could feel Arthur's whole body vibrate from that chuckle. He looked up to his King and smiled back at him. He was relishing in the fact they were so close, holding hands in one and his other hand was on Arthur's shoulder while Arthur's other hand was on his small back.

Wait.

"Arthur," Merlin started, curious, looking at the man, "did you just teach me the women's part of the dance?"

"You got it easier than the male's part. Plus, I only know the guy's part." Arthur said shrugging, with a teasing smile.

"You prat!" Merlin yelled pushing away the king.

Arthur just started laughing, loudly, and no matter how hard he tried to fight it, Merlin started smiling too.
