It never was meant to end like this, Bodies falling, man crushed under what they once called home, the moment to fight lost in the dust of war. Jak watched the Dark maker's army fall to land. In his now failing arm is his lifelong friend, Daxter, cold as stone and starting to stiffen.
All he wanted to do was scream. Scream until his voice gave out and filled with blood. More of the army came down from the sky, not far behind him he could here Seem, her final moments coming fast, blood welling up and staining the sand, she prayed to the precursor to spare her the pain, she begged Jak to put a bullet in her head, finish her. The beast inside his head fought, it wanted out, should he give in? Give up? No, Darmus wouldn't, he only accepted that his end was then. Jak couldn't do that. He worked to hard to save that city, both cities, of metal and of stone. How do it go wrong? When did he slip? It didn't matter anymore. A flash filled the sky, this is it Dax, though Jak as it grew bigger, brighter, spreading fast Jak only had time to blink when the light and heat of the dark maker bombs reached them. It didn't hurt oddly enough, Jak was sure he didn't have time to feel the pain of being burnt alive.
Young hero,

That voice

Your time is not now.

A precursor?

Return now.

Jak wanted to scream again, but he just couldn't get the breath in.

I cant. He wanted to say,

I'm not like Mar. his chest hurt no words made it out, the light weight in his arms faded away, Daxter was gone.

We can only do this once, for a price

What price?

We give you your second chance. Do not fail us.

Jak opened his eyes, the nightmare still to fresh on his mind, he shot up clutching his chest, something small and furry impeded him, Daxter, Jak scooped up the now startled Ottsel.

"Jak?" The orange ball of fuzz started to say." What's wrong buddy?"

Jaks voice still wasn't working. He try as he might, not a sound was made

"Jak? Whats… You're not going mute again are you?"

Jak just held his neck, it was gone, his voice.

For a price, he repeated in his head. Only for a price. His new voice.
