He Let The Sky Touch His Eyes
The sky was a a deep pink mixed into burning oranges with hues of blue and purples drifting through the clouds. It had been the most beautiful sight to reach orbs of gold. Eyes locked in their gaze still turned up to the sky. The twilight of the sunset approaching slow. A peaceful sadness washing over the blond like rain falling down from the clouds, but he was dry as the cold wind that nipped at exposed skin with winter's dying chill.
Edward had been staring at the sky for hours and soon night littered the ground with the light from the stars that hung over his head. Moments passing by in blinks. Mind lost in it's self as the boy stared on. Knees drawn up to chest with arms loosely wrapped over them.
Memories of days passed playing in his head. Over and over as if trapped in a loop. Faces, touches, words, and names blurring before his eyes that reflected the starry sky. Not even batting an eye as the tears fell down slightly chilled cheeks.
"The sky's too blurry.." Too different. This wasn't the sky of home. It was the sky for a world he was not meant for and yet, here he sat. A man wearing the face of his brother, now lost from his reach, only yards away. Watching the blond boy lose himself in memories he can't believe are even real. Soon that man with the stolen face takes his place at Edward's side.
A rough cough spilling blood from lips that don't belong to them. A weak smile that's a bit too much like his mother's is directed at him. Golden hues, blurred in tears, turn back to the sky. So beautiful, yet so wrong.
"Everything's wrong here." He's all alone. Always alone in a world with faces of loved ones and those long since passed. Walking around without a thought to the damage a simply glance of those faces can cause. He walks around and thinks he can stay, but the reality of it all is too much to take.
He wants to run. He want's to leave, but he can't. Not anymore. The night is crumpling and he wants to cry, so he does just that. Head dropping to hide in the arms wrapped about his bent knees. Sobs wreaking the steady rhythm of his breathing. Choking as he takes in the fact he's trapped. Trapped in a world that's not his own.
"No matter how beautiful the sky, this isn't mine." He turns his gaze to the man beside him with the stolen face. Face warped in painful heartache. Words the softest of whispers as it trembles from his lips.
"Please don't leave me.."
