Don't own any of the characters or props. Seriously.

Sooo...yeah. I read Rewind by pop-pop-bananas, and I've loved this pairing ever since.

Sixteen year old Ginny Weasley stood on the sloping grounds of Hogwarts, half-way between tall castle and dark lake. It was twilight, and the last rays of sunlight were slowly fading into darkness as stars emerged, glittering in the dark like diamonds. Ginny smiled, watching as the last flecks of daylight began to disappear from the glossy surface of the lake when a familiar voice murmured,

"Ginevra?"

She turned toward the voice, toward the Forbidden Forest, and her eyes lit up at the sight of the young man standing there, just a few paces away. The fading light glinted off his green and silver prefect badge and illuminated his handsome, youthful face as he gave her the ghost of a smile, hopeful, wistful.

"Hello, Tom." she whispered softly. She felt none of the emotions she should for this man. No hatred, no fear. Just a gentle warmth that flowed through her like warm honey.

He offered her a real smile then, and held out his hand toward her. She smiled in return, and had taken a step in his direction, when another voice behind her made her pause.

"Ginny, no!"

Tom dropped his hand back to his side, smile gone, as Ginny turned to fave Harry, who stood several feet away in the direction of the castle, glasses askew and his eyes wary. "Ginny, you can't trust him! Come back!" he told her, holding out his own hand, "He's not safe!" he took a step forward.

Safe, safe, safe. The word reverberated in Ginny's mind, echoing like the toll of a bell, and for a moment she just stood there, gazing into Harry's worried face. Then she took a step back, away from him.

"No." She didn't want safe. Not anymore. She was tired of being protected, treated as though she were made of glass. She was tired of being kept under lock and key. She was done with safe.

"Ginny, please listen to me." Harry took another step.

"No." she repeated, shaking her head and took another step back, feeling Tom's arms wrap around her waist and pull her back against his chest.

Harry's eyes widened, and he drew his wand.

"Ginny, he'll kill you!"

"No." she murmured a third time as Tom's arms tightened around her waist. A determined look descended on Harry's face and he lifted his wand, taking careful aim so as to hit Tom and not her. Ignoring him, she turned in Tom's arms to face him, fisting her hands in his robes, ignoring the pain of his prefect badge biting into her palm. He gazed down at her, smiling softly, then bent his head. He kissed her, a dark, sweet kiss, and she smiled against his lips, barely hearing Harry's yell behind her...

Ginny woke, her covers twisted around her in bed, gazing up at the ceiling. For a moment, she wasn't sure where she was. Then she realized. A dream. It had all been a dream.

Sighing, she rolled over and closed her eyes, letting herself sink gently back to sleep. As her breathing evened out and she relaxed, her hand, clenched into a fist beside her heart, slowly opened to reveal a glittering slytherin prefect badge resting in her palm, and an angry red line where its edge had cut into her skin.
