Francis laughed at Arthur's annoyance, teasing him. "Oh, Angleterre, sleep with me?~" He made kissy faces at the blushing Brit.
"No, Francis! I will not sleep with you!" Arthur lashed out, slapping his arm lightly. Francis giggled, rubbing Arthur's waist. Arthur yelped, pushing Francis away. Francis stumbled, tripping over a flowerpot. He threw his arms out, trying to save himself, his eyes wide. Arthur gasped, reaching out to grab him, missing Francis' coat by inches. Francis screamed, falling. He landed with a thump on the stone stairs, his wrist snapping. He tumbled down, his body slapping against the hard surface and his head hitting the wall. He rolled down quickly. Arthur stood at the top, stunned. Francis reached the bottom of the stairs, lying in a heap. Arthur was speechless, coming to his senses after a few seconds.
"Francis!" Arthur ran down the stairs, panicking. There were some blood spots on the stairs. Arthur jumped over Francis' body, turning him over gently. He gasped.
Francis' face was a mess; his nose, broken and bloody, his forehead had a deep gash across it and his cheekbone was bruised. Arthur's hand felt sticky. He looked down, only to retch. Through Francis' coat, a sharp white chunk was sticking out. He squinted at it, his stomach hurling. The blue was stained with blood, one of Francis' ribs poking out. He turned away, looking for help. With shaking hands, he pulled out his mobile phone. He put it to his ear, dialing the number for an ambulance. He explained where they were, his voice trembling.
He patted Francis' thigh. "They'll be here soon, Francis. Don't worry. You are still breathing… Right?!" He leaned closer to Francis, ignoring the bile rising in his throat. He listened closely. His eyes widened, before he sighed with relief. Francis was still alive. Soon enough, the ambulance arrived. England jumped up, frantic. The paramedics ushered him aside, lifting Francis' unconscious body onto a stretcher. A female paramedic guided him into the ambulance. He clutched Francis' hand as they were driven to the hospital.
