The Visit
I walked into the cemetery with a couple of flowers in my hand. They were our favorite type. I remembered when we saw them at the field. It was our first date and it was a week before graduation. I remembered when we lay in the field and gazed at the clouds. It was one of the best times of my life. I remembered when our lips touched each other's. I remembered how soft his lips were. They were like a pillow. I still remember his voice when he said, "I always want to be with you for ever and after…" and when we smiled at each other. I read the carvings that said, 'David was remembered for his humor and his talent. He will be forever in our hearts.' I see the day he made a self-sacrifice in my head every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to sleep. I remember when he alerted me about the stranger and when he said, "Do anything you want with me but do not hurt her! Please!" I walked away from his grave caught up with Joshua. He asked how everything went and I answered with a simple, "Fine." We walked on and put it behind us. We had a lovely time.
