A Moonlit Night

The sky wears a kimono bright

Blue with sparkling gems embedded.

The mystic moon lights up the night,

Stars on moonbeam strings are threaded.

Into the moonlit forest walked in a young boy. The full moon night shimmered around him as he went into a trance and then became a pearly shell. Wings, large, powerful, sweeping wings stretched from the sides and there stood Yue. He wore robes of sparkling white that seemed to outshine the moon itself. His long flowing locks sweeping over his feline eyes appeared as white foams crowning the waves in a turbulent sea.

There was a rustle of silk, a drift of intoxicating fragrance, a clinking of jewels. Yue turned and there was she, waiting. Her crimson eyes held that fire that burnt inside him, her riotously colorful apparel blending with the floral setting, her Cynthian smile rendering it brighter. She was leaning quietly against a tree, her stillness so unlike her. Yue smiled, so unlike him.

Love rains down in moonlit showers.

The breeze blows sweet and soothing

Wafting the fragrance of flowers

From near or far sweet bowers;

The cherry blossom is blooming.

Underneath the quivering roof of leaves and trembling scarlet boughs, on a floor strewn with fallen flowers lay two sleeping figures. A little stream ran gaily past them as they dreamt with sweet peaceful smiles on their faces. Their arms embraced, and their pearly pinions enfolded each other. Their lips were parted, yet not estranged, as if they had fallen asleep kissing and would wake into blissful ecstatic oblivion any moment. And the breeze blew around them, and the lights and smells of a spring full moon night danced in celebration, encircling them.

Note: Cynthia: the Greek moon goddess.

Pinion: wing.
