Sam and Jack walked down the road leading from the restaurant. It had been a nice place and they'd had fun just ignoring the fact that this couldn't become anything. There was a rumble of thunder and then the heavens opened and everything suddenly got drenched. Including them. They saw a sheltered area ahead and ran towards it.
"Are you okay?" Jack said as soon as they were out of the rain. She nodded and looked out in the road. Huge puddles were developing and she turned and smiled at him.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" She said with a mischievous smile. He looked at her and then out at the puddles.
"Are we five?" He said knowing what her response would be.
"Yep! Let's go!" She said and grabbed hold of his hand and ran out of the shelter. The rain hit her on the face and she stood still for a minute savouring the chilling rain pelting upon her face. She was shocked out of her reverie when a huge wave of water fell on her from behind. She whirled around and Jack was stood the looking like the schoolboy having been called into the head teacher's office! She smiled walked up to him and splashed him as soon as she reached the puddle in front of him. He stepped back and followed her jumping through all the puddles. The elderly ladies in the shelter laugh between themselves.
"Young love! Long time since me and Ern had that!" One said to the rest and they all tittered and resumed their knitting. Sam whirled around and saw him stop suddenly his face inches from hers. She laughed and turned running away. Her face was not showing the emotions whirling around in her head. He ran after her laughing and splashing through the puddles on his way. She double backed and when Jack stopped expecting to see her in front of him he saw the building. There was a giggle from behind him and he swung around the smile growing when he saw her. Her started to follow her and as he neared her she ran again into another puddle. He quickened his pace and within seconds he was right behind her his pace matching hers. She stopped and turned. He froze and smiled at her when she had turned around. They were nose to nose and instinctively he reached out and brushed a strand of hair that was plastered to her face. She smiled and looked down. When she looked up again she looked straight into his eyes. There was something she saw in them that stirred something inside her. She didn't have too much time to ponder it as he had leant forward and kissed. She realised and started to kiss him back.
While this was going on the elderly ladies were tittering about the scene in front of them.
"Probably the first kiss, but judging by the fact they're trying to suck each others faces off they've probably wanted to do it for a long time too!" She said and leant back with a smile to the others. Sam and Jack resurfaced and smiled at each other and only realised they weren't alone when the knitting group called out to them.
"Enjoy it while you can, okay? Young love these days doesn't last as long as it did in my day!" She said met with titters from the others. They turned and smiled ashamedly.
"Don't worry, ma darlings. It's okay. At least you aren't as bad as some of them these days!" One called and they smiled at her and started walking over to the road and down the road.
For the fact they only went out for a meal to sort things out. This night had been quite a success!
The End!
