Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Artemis ... Artemis are you awake.

"Butler we need the adrenalin he may not last much longer even with magic, not saying I have much left anyway."

It felt cold, very cold. I was floating on a cloud miles away from anywhere.

What seemed very muted, may well have been a whole lot of commotion, but I wasn't in much of a position to act.

I felt nothing but a searing itch all down my spine.

before this happened

"Come on hurry up mud boy," holly shouted down the hall seemingly walking twice the speed of Artemis' sprint.

"I highly doubt they can pick the lock in under 30 seconds Holly, the precise time it takes me to go up the stairs, then into the study." Artemis retorted, panting at the top of the stairs.

by the time he caught up with the elf, the said elf was all ready prepared and ready to return.

Enacting the practiced procedure of removing the perfectly fitting suit, Artemis moved to stand by Holly.

Just as Holly was about to send the signal, the door caved in with a crash, a bright yellow fleck being seen among the dust, a loud crack and after a brief second of body locking agony. Artemis knew no more.

Holly by this time has managed to whisk themselves into the "relative" safety of the time tunnel and was having use every fibre of will to keep Artemis in one piece.

She was at risk of tearing her own self apart, this she knew. But she realised there wasn't much point returning half empty.

She could almost imagine it. Her head being mashed between two of butlers' fingers.

She could feel her focus slipping, like water through her fingers. She could only ever remember being this focused once, and that was on her mother's voice. Shaking her metaphysical head, Holly had to think of herself an elf and Artemis a mud boy, she didn't even know the anatomy! Hoping to all that is holy that Artemis had enough stubbornness to stay the same.

Floating in darkness was nothing new, whenever I closed my eyes or decided to think of the future, I always did so in darkness, however never was it so silent, so still.

I got spat out first landing harshly on the floor, quickly scrambling out of the way, a couple of tense seconds passed before spontaneous a very small figure fizzled into existence, sporting raven black hair.

I immediately we rushed over, butler close on her heels. 'he looked about the same age as me.'

the adrenalin was injected, after a brief splutter his whole body burst into an explosion of colours the haze of music enveloping the whole room in light.

the body was hidden from view, sparks flying and erupting from the body and then absorbed back into the body. Eventually the scene died down, the sparks becoming less and less frequent until the room fell silent

"lay him onto the bed" commanded the bodyguard.

Before I could get too used to the darkness that was surrounding me. A searing and a massive flash burned my very bones, drowned the darkness in pure light. After only a few estimated moments, I felt a massively jerk. 'Perhaps even the darkness has left me now. I must have passed out from the shock, because the next thing I knew I was lying in a very familiar bed. After a quick check of my surrounding, I found Holly lying on one side of the bed, with an empty chair at the bottom of said room. After glancing at a steadily ticking clock, I noticed it was early afternoon. As quietly as possible, I lifted the covers and shifted out of bed, somehow managing to find a creak from the foam mattress. Playing it off as tiredness, I ignored the not so inconsiderable hop I made from the bed onto the floor, I covered Holly in a spare throw that was folded on the floor next to the bed, admiring how sweet she looked sleeping away. I found myself walking out of the bedroom on auto pilot as I travelled to the most comfortable place in the mansion. For what was likely the 150th time this week I wondered up to the door of my study unlocked the door with my fingerprint and walked straight into the door 'ow'…. That wasn't right, was the motor broken? I attempted my finger print again, once again failing to open the door. After skimming through the on-screen diagnostics, I rushed to the nearest mirror, my pitter patter of feet almost silent on the lush rug of the hallways. After almost tripping over my own feet twice and forgetting about my supposed bad fitness level, I stared at the completely unfamiliar face looking at me in the mirror. And promptly fainted 'perhaps the truest to life act so far.'

Raising herself through all the commotion she stared at the brown lump of flesh occupying the floor of the bathroom, she got up, smiling unconsciously at the blanket and walk herself over to the only other elf in the room. Briefly struggling she managed to haul the broader elf over her shoulders and back onto the bed. Where she, after a brief mental struggle decided to sleep right next to him. She'd probably wake before he noticed anyway.

How was the improvement. I basically spruced it up a little made it work a bit better and removed some plot armour.
