"There is the kiss of welcome and of parting, the long, lingering, loving, present one; the stolen, or the mutual one; the kiss of love, of joy, and of sorrow; the seal of promise and receipt of fulfillment." Thomas C. Haliburton

Not Quite Like Hershey's Chocolate

summary: Valerie, "iWill Date Freddie." It doesn't really count.

This is his first kiss (besides his mother), or it would be if he let it count. He won't let it count, and so it doesn't. Besides, it wasn't more than a fraction of a second of soft, sticky lips in a crowded hallway. That isn't romantic or sweet like a first kiss is supposed to be, or, hell, even the slightest bit passionate like he heard it could be like. Maybe having a girl as a (crush) best friend and an almost-girl for a... coworker has warped his guy brain. Maybe he has just watched too many bad movies aimed at teenage girls with them.

Maybe. But he has a feeling that it's more than that.

Freddie doesn't really like her, and Valerie doesn't really like him; he just likes the attention she gives him and she doesn't mind giving it to him if it means he'll do the tech stuff for her new web show. He feels under-appreciated and she needs his skills, and Freddie doesn't mind being used, it seems, as long as he feels wanted.

.

( Carly won't even let him feel that )

.

He groans, alone in his room, in his bed. It's over now, between Valerie and him. They'd ended their sham of a relationship, and he'd gone and crawled back to Carly (and Sam). He's on the iCarly team again, and while he doesn't quite feel wanted, he knows they need him at least.

And that, for now, is good enough. It has to be.

.

He closes his eyes and tries not to think of brunettes and the taste of grape-flavored lipgloss.

ahn~ This is embarrassing, but I can't get a hold of this episode and I only remember bits and pieces of it. [ fasepalm ] Please let me know if I deviated too much from canon (or if you liked it or hated it or whatever). This is my third-ish attempt at writing in a Freddie POV, so, again, let me know how this turned out.

PS: this is the first in a series of one-shots involving Freddie, other people, and kissing. It's an idea that popped into my head sometime after "iSaved Your Life" and, well, I've always been something of a multishipper. This will stick to canon until a certain point where everything will fall somewhere between "maybe" and crack. xD
