I Remember- A Ron and Hermione OneShot

"I remember" Whispered Hermione as she and Ron climbed into bed. Tomorrow was the 2nd May, the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. Ten years had come to pass since the night, that fateful night. The night evil had perished, and hope had been re-born upon the horizon, though it had not come without a price.

"What do you remember love"

"I remember Fred, Tonks, Remus, Colin, Snape, and all the others that perished that night- I remember what it took to re-build, I remember the agonising screams, watching Harry come out of the Forbidden forest, seemingly dead in Hagrid's arms. Was it all in vain?" The last part came in a strained whisper as the tears slowly built in her eyes

"Shh- shh, I remember them to love… but no-one died in vain that night. Together, we fought, and we fell in the face of adversity- But no, no-one died in vain that night" Ron whispered back, gently wiping the tears from Hermione's face.

Slowly, Hermione drifted into a fitful sleep, one full of nightmares and memories.

...

"RON- COME BACK" A best friend gone, another one torn apart.
...

"You're voice, saying my name" Five words to come back home.
...

"I'll go with you" a tear ridden Hermione sobbed into Harry's shoulder.
...

"HARRY POTTER-IS DEAD. Four words for a nightmare to come true.
...

Harry Potter, stood, battle worn but victorious over the body of the body of his foe, Lord Voldemort was dead" The end of a lifetime of war.
...

"I love you" a start to a new chapter.
...

Hermione shot up, brow covered in sweat, tears once more leaking from her eyes. Ron must have heard her, for next thing she knew, long arms wrapped themselves around her slim figure, pulling her close.

"It'll be okay Hermione, I promise"

"I-I'm sorry Ron, I know you like sleeping"

"Don't worry, we needed to be up anyway, we need to meet Harry and Ginny at midday, and then go to the remembrance ceremony at one o'clock"

Midday soon arrived; Hermione, Ron, Harry and Ginny slowly trudged up the grounds to the mighty castle, school and previous battleground.

Hermione barely heard the announcements; she was trying not to remember the horror of that day, ten years ago. Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she turned to see Harry looking at her with soft eyes. "It's okay Hermione" He said. "We'll remember with you"

"He's right…We will" added Ron, giving her a light kiss on the lips.
