~Fairy Tales~
When I was small
my mother read me
what all mothers
read to their daughters.
She read me Fairy tales,
stories of magic,
of princes and princesses,
of knights and dragons,
of kings and kingdoms.
In those stories,
the monsters and bad guys always lose.
And the good guys always win.
Like Giles said,
No one ever dies and everyone lives happily ever after.
It always goes like that . . .
In fairy tales.
In reality things get a bit more complicated.
People die every day,
Sometimes the good guys don't win,
and you almost never live,
Happily ever after.
I should know,
I'm the Slayer.
In my reality there is no Prince Charming,
Cinderella doesn't exist.
I've never met,
a knight in shining armor.
The closest I get is
a vampire in black leather.
When I was little,
I believed in fairy tales.
Then I grew up,
and found out,
that the monsters are real,
but sometimes the heros aren't.
Now I'm not so little,
and I don't believe in fairy tales anymore.
