The planet was known to its residents as Gaia or simply "the Planet". All sorts of wonderful creatures lived on it along side humans; giant birds, dragons, wolf-like beasts, dangerous bio-weapons, and other things. The human population was beginning to recover from a near-cataclysmic event that had manifested itself as a very large asteroid. It was massive enough that its impact should have ripped away the planet's crust and ejected it into space. Large rocks from space be damned because the asteroid was stopped by a mystical force that emerged from inside Gaia to destroy it. Still, as previously mentioned, devastation on a much smaller scale had been inflicted. And while this was miraculous to the planet's inhabitants, it held no interest for one who had witnessed the asteroid change trajectory.
In accordance with the Earthbound scientist Newton's first law, an object's velocity will not change unless a non-zero net force is applied to it. Well, the change in velocity that the asteroid had experienced occurred over a very short period—about six Earth hours—and in a region of space where, for the most part, the gravitational pull of nearby objects were canceled out. No spaceship large enough to alter the rock's bearings through a collision was anywhere nearby, either. Actually, that statement could be extended to *any* spaceship. Except for one.
An alien craft of modest size was flying near that asteroid when its pilot saw it change course. The pilot in question had his dealing of strange events, but each was never like the others, so he followed the space rock to where it would eventually crash: Gaia. It was a body that bloomed with life, reminding the him of another planet with a very similar appearance.
Planetary destruction was nothing new to him, but never being in a bad mood for it, he opted to watch a calamity unfold. The asteroid approached the Gaia with a typical interplanetary speed (forty-thousand miles per hour) and Armageddon was soon upon it. And then, it wasn't; green streams of light emerged from the surface of the planet, converging on the asteroid and its impact location. It began to break apart into smaller pieces which then themselves broke up into even smaller ones. This process continued until the rock that should have annihilated everything in sight had disintegrated. With their job done the green bands of light receded back into the planet, exposing a slightly altered surface that was still recognizable, nonetheless.
Now, that pilot who had watched the asteroid disappear stood on the surface of Gaia, gazing out upon a once great city that could now almost be considered ruins. He saw a still shell shocked citizenry trying to rebuild everything that had once been a year ago, trying to remove all reminders of the horror and tragedy caused by the insane, genetically modified human Sephiroth. This calm, though, would not last for very long. The pilot standing on the cliffs outside the city smiled a creepy smile; sunken eyes on a creature seemingly carved from stone. Gaia was soon going to be at the mercy of the ultimate nihilist, the Mad Titan.
Now, I do not want to ask for reviews, but I am eager to receive feedback on the concept presented in this crossover. If you know who the "Mad Titan" is, then please leave a review stating your opinion on using him in a Final Fantasy VII story. Thank you.
