Sometimes Luzzu wonders if maybe he should stop recruiting little kids to be in the Crusaders. Because that's what they are – little kids. Chappu and Gatta and dammit dammit dammit all! And the Summoners are no better – Yuna's only seventeen, and even though she's painfully mature, she's still young enough to crush on some cuteguy. Luzzu remembers hoisting her up on to his shoulders, her little chubby hands gripping his hair as she gawked at Besaid's ancient ruins in awe. Luzzu remembers Chappu gazing at Lulu – aw, puppy love! Isn't that so cute? – and Gatta with his parents and then Luzzu went and ruined everything and now Chappu's gone and Gatta's body is slashed and ripped and dead and he's only a child, only a child, why didn't I stop him?
Then he remembers. Luzzu did try to stop him. Lulu and Wakka tried to stop Chappu. And how many people are trying to stop Yuna? He can only guess. And maybe that's what makes them so young – they think they are invincible, immortal. They think that even if – when – they die, their legacy will be carried on. But Chappu's dead and Gatta's dead and Yuna's gonna die and Luzzu wishes he could just bend them over his knee and give them a good spanking like the naughty children they are. Because death is death. And no legacy is ever going to bring them back.
