Chapter 1
I could never forget that day, I could still remember every moment of it, as if it happened yesterday.
"The sun had begun to set, painting the sky in various colours. A petite blonde girl sat curled up on a bench in the park, burying her face in her knees. She hated how people looked at her in a different way. She wasn't a witch or a monster. She wasn't an 'it'. She hated how she was constantly bullied in school. It just wasn't fair. She felt someone touch her head and looked up in surprise with her tear stricken face to see a raven haired boy with gray eyes around her age.
" Hey, I'm Aaron", he smiled at her warmly and held out his hand.
She stared at him. He was talking to ... her? He wasn't running away? He wasn't scared by her eyes, her cursed, golden eyes?
She felt warm and fuzzy inside.
She smiled weakly and took his hand," I'm Erica"
He looked at her closely and ran his thumb over a deep cut on her cheek.
She blushed at his touch.
" How did you get hurt?" He frowned.
She blinked. She didn't want to tattletale. So, she lied.
" I fell down."
" Aaron!" a voice called.
Aaron sighed and looked at her, giving a crooked smile, " Erica, right? I guess I'll see you around " .
Her cheeks warmed and she smiled happily and nodded - "
I felt a jolt of pain in my gut, waking me up from the pleasant flashback I had. I clutched my stomach, and looked up to see an angry, old lady with way too much make up,waving a stick above her head," You overslept! I swear you're nothing but a pain in my ass. Now, get to the shop. NOW! "
I winced. This was a daily routine. I stood up, feeling as if someone stuffed cotton in my head, swaying a little. I ignored my grandmother's rantings and stumbled over to the bathroom. I glanced at the mirror. Hello, Sleeping Beauty.
As usual, I was a mess. My blond hair was like a bird nest and my sleepy, golden eyes stared back at me. People called them a witch's eyes due to the various ... incidents that happened. I hurriedly got ready, brushing my teeth, taking a bath. I quickly put on an old T- shirt and jeans before I tied my hair up in a messy pony tail. I put on my glasses too. I didn't need to, but they helped to cover my golden eyes a bit. I went over to the photo of my parents and felt a familiar pang in my heart.
" Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. " I whispered stroking it, before rushing out of the house. A gust of crisp, automn air blew. I took in a huge breath and grinned. So much for combing my hair. The street was surprisingly empty, ours was the smallest house on the street and the most desolate. Well, it was inhuman to get up on a Saturday at 6 in the morning.
I took a quick look at the house opposite from mine, it was his house. Sometimes , I would see him. But, we never talked to each other after my parents died, it was as if we never knew each other at all. I shook my head. Forget about him.
I walked slowly along the street. The trees swayed in the breeze while orange leaves drifted to the ground. It felt nice. Tomorrow was my first day of highschool.
I wasn't nervous though.
I was having a nervous break down.
I stumbled and tripped on something, I closed my eyes and waited for the impact. Shoots of pain rushed through my body as m it connected with the ground. I cursed and stood up, dusting myself indignantly. I crouched down to see what the heck I tripped upon and found myself holding a golden key with the symbol of a fairy on it. On it was engraved, ' Fairy Tail '.
