Would You Really

"REGENERATE!" the Doctor half-shouted, half-sobbed. The Master simply smiled, and shook his head.

"I guess you don't know me that well after all," he rasped. The Doctor looked at his face, not understanding him.

"Koschei, how could you do this to me? We used to be best friends…" Again, the Master shook his head.

"Those days are long gone. I'm not the same. Neither are you, Theta." The Doctor swallowed the lump in his throat, more tears streaming down his face. Suddenly the Master started laughing.

"What could you possibly laugh about now?" He asked, bewildered. The Master had always had a knack for that.

"You were trying to convince me to leave them alone. Go off with you instead." He stated.

"Yes?"

"Sounded like you were asking me on a date." The Doctor couldn't but laugh with him. All these years, and Koschei hadn't lost his sense of humor. Suddenly the Master sobered, and was staring into the Doctor's brown eyes.

"Would you really?" he wanted to know.

"Would I what?" the Doctor asked, searching his best friend's face.

"Would you you really take me on a date?" The Doctor chuckled softly at that.

"Yeah, I guess…" he said smiling slightly at Koschei. The Master grinned sheepishly.

"I guess you do know me," he said softly, before beginning to regenerate.
