McCoy's POV

Love is a funny thing, but as it turns out you can't live without it.
I have known James T. Kirk for years and I have seen him give up his
chance for love more times than I care to admit. I've seen him run
away from it like it was a freakin' plague and never look back. But
even the famous Jim Kirk can't live without love. He's claimed in the
past that he just doesn't see the point in love. That it will
eventually fall apart and leave him with nothing to hold unto but the
broken pieces of his heart. But no matter what he says he needs it.

You can tell in the way that he will put everyone else first in his life, that he thinks that he'll never deserve love. You can tell in the way that he leaves everyone that he has ever cared about, that he doesn't think that he'll be able to keep love.

But what Jim doesn't see is that he has already earned all the love
that he will ever need. Not by all the shit that he thinks he has to
do, but by all the little things that he doesn't even think about.
Like how after a long day, he will have a bubble bath waiting for me
when I come in and he'll sit with me and rub out the soreness in my
muscles as the hot water let's me relax even more. And how he saves
that sexy half-cocked smile just for me. Or how he listens to me rant
and rave about how unfair it is that Jocelyn wouldn't let me see my
daughter the last time we had shore leave on earth. And how he lets
everyone believe that he's the cuddlier in our relationship when in
reality it's me who starts it.

But no matter how many times I tell him that I love him he doesn't
believe me. So I guess that I'll just have to keep telling him and keep
loving him until he finally understands that I'm not going anywhere.
That I will always love him. Because I know he needs it as much as I
do.
