In my thoughts
Ron sat in the Gryffindor Common Room with Harry and Hermione, pretending to listen whilst Hermione tried to explain thier newest Transfiguration assignment. It was relitivly easy, but Ron couldn't concentrate- all he saw in front of him was Hermione. She was beautiful, intelligent, witty... everything he could ever want in anybody. And she could never be his. Why would anybody like her even look at somebody like him? What he would give to just hear what she was thinking...

Hermione gave a sigh as she tried to explain the homework. Niether one were listening today... of course, Ron never listened. How he passed class was a mystery to her... but she was very glad he did. She suppressed a shiver as she imagined just exactly how Hogwarts would be if Ron weren't here... it wasn't a pleasant thought. She sighed again and shifted her position, catching Neville staring at her from out of the corner of her eye. That was strange. She wondered what could possible be running through his mind right now...

Neville puzzled over his Potions homework, but no matter how hard he tried, he was acutely concious of her presence... sitting right behind Hermione Granger, doing her homework with Colin Creevey. Ginny. She was so pretty. But she thought of him as nothing. He had only gone to the Yule Ball with him out of pity. But how he would like to know what she was thinking right now...

Ginny sat by Colin, listening to him babble on about something or the other. She wished he just shut up or go away. Preferrably both. But she was too timid to speak her mind, only contented herself with pretending to read her History of Magic, sending furtive glances in Harry Potter's direction. She gave a tiny sigh, wishing for the hundreth time today that he would talk to her, smile at her in that way that melted her heart, that he could somehow read her thoughts so he could see how much he meant to her, that she could somehow read his...

Harry stared pensively down at his hands, listening to Hermione try to lecture, try to pretend that life was normal, that she wasn't completely stricken with Ron... and he her. It was the most painful thing he had to go through in his life, to watch his two best friends, one he loved with all his heart and soul, learn to love each other... It just wasn't fair. Not fair at all... he looked longingly at his crush, pressing down the emotions that bubbled up at merely the sight... oh, what he wouldn't give to know just what Ron was thinking now...
