As Harold entered the library, Bear ran to greet him, an over-sized stuffed dog bone hanging from his mouth.

"Good morning, Bear," Harold greeted.

Bear wagged his tail in answer and clamped his teeth down around the toy.

Squeak…squeak…squeak…

Harold's eyes narrowed. "I distinctly remember disemboweling that toy and throwing its noisemaker away."

Bear cocked his head at this and happily continued to chew on his toy.

Squeak…squeak…squeak…

Harold pulled his phone from his coat pocket and dialed. He had a suspicion he knew exactly who was behind the extraordinary reconstruction of Bear's toy…

"Morning, Finch. We get a new number?"

Harold thought his employee sounded rather too innocent. "No, we did not get a new number, Mr. Reese, I'm calling about an entirely different matter."

Squeak…squeak…squeak…

"Is that feedback again?" John asked.

Harold swore he heard barely contained laughter in the other man's voice, and gritted his teeth. "No, it's not feedback. It's Bear's toy. It seems to have been fixed."

"That's amazing, Harold," John replied, no longer bothering to hide his amusement. "I wonder how that happened?"

"I don't find this funny, John."

Squeak…squeak…squeak…

Over the line Harold heard John's laughter, and sighed. It was going to be a long day.
