That stupid smug look on his face never ceased to annoy her. Was it so much to ask that he look normal, just one time? Alright, so maybe it wasn't fair to expect an ancient creature of incomprehensible evil to act normal, but the least he could do was not smirk with such self-satisfaction whenever they happened to run into one another.
Finally growing irritated with his continued leer, she puffed her cheeks out and crossed her arms, "Can I help you?" Blossom asked, her rosy pink eyes narrowed dangerously. The look did nothing at all to deter her unwanted companion. The monster just chuckled and leaned forward, forcing her to back up to the wall behind her.
"Where is that boyfriend of yours this evening? It's such a sight to see you alone in a place like this," Aku asked. Something in his suggestive tone, in the way he narrowed is eyes when he said the b-word, piqued her curiosity. At the same time, the implication brought a hot glow to her cheeks. She turned her eyes away, hoping he wouldn't notice.
"I don't have a boyfriend, Aku," she corrected, glancing back up at the monster.
Of course he noticed. She'd never learned to control how easily she blushed when it came to romance and...other intimate topics. And it was always worse when he was around.
"Is that so?" Aku leaned even closer, lowering himself a little more to her eye level. His cheshire grin grew broader as her cheeks grew redder. He could likely feel the heat from her face, "That little boy, what would you call him then? The one who follows you like a lost," he lowered his voice, "little…" the distance between them was getting smaller, "puppy?"
Blossom's eyes went wide as she turned to face him. He was so close now. Why was her heart pounding? Why couldn't she stop blushing? She narrowed her eyes and stood up straight, unintentionally bringing her lips dangerously close to his. She shuddered, hesitating for just a moment.
"He's just a friend, a good friend. That's all," she explained. She was normally so well-spoken, but with him this close the words tripped over her lips. The word "friend" got caught in her throat, like a bad cough syrup, causing her stomach to flip. Swallowing that bitter medicine, she cleared her throat and tried to push him back.
He didn't give when she pushed, but she did. Her hand froze, her heart skipped a beat as she leaned forward, against his chest. Was he always this strong? Was he always so...warm?
"So you say...I should hope he feels the same, then. At the same time…" Aku trailed off, watching as the flames in his breath mingled with the snowflakes in hers. His eyes traced her lips, drifting across her beautiful face with a terrifying, exhilarating intensity. His burning eyes locked with hers and the breath caught in her throat. "Aku hopes that boy won't find out what he knows,"
Blossom shivered. She started to back away, started to look away, but steeled her nerves and licked her lips, "What do you mean?" she whispered.
"If he is just a friend, he is a fool. You were the last good thing, the last reason Aku has left this place be," He whispered, finally capturing her lips with his.
