Trust
America sighed softly as his human self left to go to England with his brother. A smile played on his lips, while a knowing gaze followed them to the horizon before they disappeared.
"Looks like everyone's finally happy, si?" A male voice with a Spanish accent asked. America didn't even turn to look at him, just waited until the footsteps stopped to start talking.
"Yep, looks like it." He said, standing up and turning to his dead friends, a sad look on his face. "Maybe it's time for us to let go." He walked towards them and joined the fairly small group. "What do you think guys?"
Switzerland and his sister Liechtenstein spoke first. "Probably." The girl said, knowing her brother would speak the rest of their opinion. "It looks like they finally found happiness."
"And besides, they've already got us, in a way." The brother grumbles, in an appreciating way.
"Are you sure?" Ukraine asked softly, motherly concern spreading across her face. "What if they need us? After all, we know that this peace can't last for long." A silence spread in the group, each of them contemplating this fact in their own way. It was the ever happy South Korea who spoke next.
"It's true they might need our help in the future," He spoke, a solemn tone in his voice that was unusual for him. "But they'll know how to get to us when they need us."
Japan continued this statement. "Besides, we can't keep watching over them like their children. They will have to learn to fend for themselves, or they will never survive what happens next."
Silence followed, until Austria spoke the final words. "What happens next will not directly involve us like it did in the past." He said, getting the other dead nations' attention. "We are only here to give them knowledge of possibilities, and protection from deaths that should not happen. I believe we should let go."
Everybody slowly agreed with what he had to say, and sadly, severed the ties they used to watch over the humans and current nations during their trials.
"There's no turning back now…" Spain murmured, looking longingly at his former charge through the looking glass, before turning to the others.
"No, there isn't." America said. His confidence spreading through everyone in the group. "But it doesn't matter; after all, trust is the greatest thing we can give them right now." He winked, and walked into the light of the final afterlife, along with the others. "And that trust is the one thing they need most." The next thing they said was speaking in unison, as their hope spread abound.
"Because the adventure isn't over yet."
(AN:) So, how do you like?
This is my version of the nation's afterlife, from the story "Second Chance" By Arixabell. Good Story, by the way! You should totally check it out! I needed to know their ending, even if it's not correct, because my mind just wouldn't come off it.
Ah, well, enough with my rant. See you later!
