I sat staring at my cauldron, knowing I wouldn't need to do any work to get a good grade. I could make an explosion and Snape would still love me more than Potter! I always managed to boast that fact in Potter's face. As Snape came around to check at each desk I quickly emptied the test tubes into the cauldron before adding the powdered wormwood. I already knew we were meant to do it was so it was easy enough to just pour it in and let it bubble...with the occasional stir.
'Well Done, Draco! I see you have done everything I asked. 5 House Points to you!' Snape announced, loud enough for the class to hear and probably the next class over.
Not that I was complaining.
I smirked Harry's way as Ron, Hermione and Harry stared at me, giving me filthy looks. It wasn't my fault that I was a prized Slytherin. Potter just couldn't accept the fact that I was better than him!
As I added the last few ingredients the big heavy dungeon door swung open. I didn't look up, I wasn't interested. It was probably just going to be another boring teacher, telling Snape about a staff meeting or something.
'Crabbe, Goyle,' I shouted.
They rushed over, looking as gormless as ever. 'Did you both get permission to go on the Hogsmeade trip this weekend?'
'Yes Draco,' they responded in sync.
'Good. After Potions, I'll meet you at the Common Room before going off to Care of Magical Creatures. I still can't believe Dumbledore let that slob, Hagrid, teach. He's nothing but Games Keeper. He is certainly NOT qualified to run a lesson. I should report it to my father!' I said angrily.
'I agree, Draco. It's stupid,' Goyle agreed.
'Thankyou Goyle.'
I left them standing there, and walked over to Potter. He was busy checking his notes, making sure he got everything correct. Unlike me, he couldn't just do anything and get Outstanding level on it.
'Hello...Potter,' I smirked.
'What do you want, Malfoy?' Potter said distractedly.
'Just wanted to see how you were doing with your Potions work. I've done mine and according to Snape...It's amazing! But by the way he talked to you, I don't think yours was as good as mine. Goodbye Potter, Weasley and oh yeah...you. Mudblood!' I spat. I couldn't stand Mudbloods.
None of them should be allowed to enter our school in my opinion. Father says we shouldn't have to share the same air as them, either. I think that's one of the reasons I am a Slytherin...after all. My family did have the same views as Salazar Slytherin himself.
I got back to my seat just as Snape came to stand in front of me.
'Draco, we have a new student. Could she possibly sit here from now on?' Snape asked.
'Sure, Professor.' I replied lazily.
I sat at my desk as I heard a soft pattering coming towards my desk. I smelt a sickly sweet scent emanating from her. Smelling like...Poisoned Vanilla Cupcakes. I already knew she was a Slytherin. I could tell by the way Snape talked about her, the smugness creeping into his voice like it did when he talked about me.
A fair skinned hand placed some books on the other end of my desk. Her nail polish was slightly chipped, coloured a startling green. Like Slytherin!
'Hi, I'm Ever. Ever Flame.' the girl said.
I turned slowly in my chair and looked her straight in the eye. Gasping...I let my mouth hang open for a few moments before guiding it shut.
'Uh, I- I'm Draco Mal- Malfoy. Nice to me- meet you Ever,' I stuttered before regaining my composure.
Ever was...beautiful. There was no other way to put it. She had fair skin which was shown brighter by her red hair. I could smell strawberries wafting from her hair as she swished it in my direction. Her eyes were kind of misty...making me want to know more about her. I needed to know more about her!
