Lifepoints fell to zero as Chazz fell to his knees, pounding his fist into the ground and muttering curses of frustration. He ceased his actions when angry eyes saw scuffed sneakers in front of him, looking up to see who they were attached to.

"Good game!" Jaden said cheerily, sticking his hand out to help the other duelist up.

Slapping the offending gesture away, Chazz scoffed at the victorious brunette, rising up from the dirt by himself. "Whatever, Slacker."

"You're such a sore loser," he laughed, the boy in black already striding away. The retreating teen was turned around abruptly, though, when the giddy Slifer grabbed his thin wrist. "Hey, where're you going? We made a bet, remember? You gotta keep your end of the deal!"

"Shit," Chazz said under his breath, then adding mentally, 'I was hoping he forgot.'

Before the start of the duel, the red-clad boy had proposed they made the friendly match more interesting. Confident in his deck and his own abilities, the former Obelisk accepted his rival's offer, curious to find out what was being put at stake. But what they were wagering was something he'd never expect from Jaden; the loser had to ask the winner out on a date.

Of course Chazz would never back down from a challenge, especially one from this particular challenger, so the duel went on accordingly. This loss was an unfortunate one, as loosing to his rival in general was always something he loathed, but this had been a lose-lose situation from the very start. Now the conflicted duelist had to swallow so much pride he though he'd choke.

"Come on," Jaden said impatiently. "it's a simple question. Just ask already!"

Simple. Everything was always so simple with him, wasn't it? Ask the question and get it over with. But things were never that simple in Chazz's mind. There was always some sort of trade-off to be made, something that had to be given up in any given decision. The Slifer might not have anything to lose, but he was just the opposite.

The darker clothed teen released a breath he had apparently been holding, sounding more like an irritated sigh than anything else. Jaden couldn't help being so simple, he figured, the most complex thing he'd ever wrapped his mind around probably being a fusion summon.

He supposed the slacker had a few charms to him as well—his talent rivaled that of The Chazz, after all. Even though his peppy personality annoyed the former Obelisk to no end, Jaden's uplifting attitude has been known to make Chazz crack a smile once every blue moon. And maybe less stupidity would pour out from the brunette's mouth if he was forced to be silenced by a movie, or if he was too busy chewing a nice dinner, or if those talkative lips were covered by another pair…

"Fine." he spat, avoiding eye contact. "Do you want to go out this weekend?"

The Slifer's lips curled into a victorious grin. Eyes wondering, the black-clad duelist caught sight of Jaden's own bright eyes and immediately averted his gaze, a tight feeling forming in his chest.

"Nope!"

A lighthearted laughter filled the air before it's source was swiftly silenced by Chazz's fist.

"Ow! What'd ya do that for!" Jaden whined, rubbing his swelling cheek.

"Simple." he said. "You're an idiot."
