It was about two in the morning that the residents of a sleepy little town in Germany, or those who were particularly sleep deprived, heard a quite pleasant sound emitting from the walls of the greatest chocolate factory ever known.
Quite an odd thing to be hearing, for the only noise those passers by usually heard was the cold bitter sound of silence. Residents knew who lived there, and who created such magical things of chocolate, but music? It was unheard of. Then again, even if one were to flip through every magazine every day, there would be no mention of Willy Wonka, other than his newest inventions. Not even the smallest whisper of his personality, unless you counted the time when four rather rude children leaked some rumours that got put in every magazine and newspaper for weeks. However, everyone knew that the nasty children were known to be the four Golden Ticket winners, so the rumours were discarded.
The music that carried its way across the wind, through an open window, did not come from Willy Wonka, as some people might believe. No, this beautiful music was being produced by a golden haired boy named Charlie, who was playing the piano in an effort to put himself to sleep. Almost like singing a lullaby to himself. However, as quiet as he tried to be, half an hour later, he noticed a tall dark shadow in the doorway to the music room.
"Don't you have pyjamas Mr. Wonka?" Charlie asked, when he saw who it was.
"Moonlight Sonata?" Mr. Wonka, inquired.
"Yes. Yes it is. I figure it would put me to sleep." Charlie said. He then added,
"Did I wake you?"
"Not at all my dear boy. I find my best inventions are thought of at night. If I could only hang upside down like a bat, I would have the very best ideas." Mr. Wonka replied.
Charlie silently, began to brush his fingers across the keys.
"Did you try balancing a glass of milk on your head while singing the lyrics to "The lion sleeps tonight" backwards?"
"Mr. Wonka?"
Mr. Wonka, smiled and then sat down in the stool next to his heir.
"You know, I got this piano after visiting Disneyland back in 1953. I figured that I would unlock some new hidden thoughts if I played music."
"I know how excited you are for Disneyworld Mr. Wonka. But it's opening on October first 1971! It's only a few more months away." said Charlie.
"Yes. It's a shame that Uncle Walt won't be able to see it."
"I'm sure he would be happy to know people will love the park as much as Disneyland."
Mr. Wonka, got up and circled the piano a few times.
"Mr. Wonka?" Charlie asked again.
"Jungle Cruise…Jungle Cruise…the coconut milk from the jungle…That's it!"
"What's it?"
"I got some coconut milk from the jungle a few weeks back from our expedition for new flavours…Charlie, I think it will help you sleep!"
"Please. Anything." Charlie said.
"I'm sure I got some left here…just got to find it…"
I know that was quite shot, even for a one-shot. But it's hard to suddenly change Wonkas.
