"Lunch To Go…"

Sitting at her desk, Betty was typing away madly trying to get her work done. Overwhelmed by the amount of work going into the upcoming issue of Mode, she had done plenty of overtime and late nights in the office.

Wanting to finish on time for once, so she could spend the night at home, to just relax and hang out with her Gio, on the couch, she decided to work through her lunch. Not stopping, she ploughed through the mountain of paperwork and numerous phone calls. There was one phone call though that she didn't make; that was to Gio to order her lunch from his deli. Despite her stomach growling, she ignored it and tried to concentrate on the tasks at hand.

Time was flying by and soon the lunch rush was over. People were settling back into their desks and getting back to work. The afternoon designers meeting was about to start so Betty grabbed her clipboard and pen and dashed off to get Daniel ready for the meeting also. Eventually, walking in to the boardroom together, they sat down and the meeting commenced.

Constantly drinking water to quench her thirst and calm her hunger, Betty attention was diverted when she noticed a figure walk up to her desk and then leave. Not wanting to look too distracted, she shrugged it off, assuming it was another employee putting more work on her desk… 'Meh…I'll attend to it when I get back…' she thought to herself.

The meeting finally finished and Betty went back to her desk to finish off some work before heading home on time. Sitting down, she noticed a very neatly wrapped chicken roll tied with a white ribbon placed in front of her keyboard. Instantly, she knew who the sandwich was from. A giant smile appeared on her face and her spirits were lifted straight away.

Attached to the roll was a sticky note, 'Try it my way…It won't be terrible…Gio xxx.' Remember the first sandwich he made her, she wasn't so sure, but she did trust his taste, so she shrugged her shoulders, peeled the note off and stuck it on her LCD monitor. Betty then started tugging at the ribbon, not noticing Gio walk up to her desk very quietly, he stood behind her not making a sound; just waiting for the right moment. She finally gave one last tug, releasing the bow and leaving the knot yet to be tackled. Attempting to untie it, she noticed something was tied into the knot. On closer inspection, her jaw dropped and her hand clamped over her mouth.

A familiar voice sounded behind her. "What do you say Suarez? Will you marry me?"

Swiveling in her chair, Betty leaped from her desk and straight into Gio's open arms. "YES YES YES! Of course I will!"

Catching Betty, Gio held onto her as he swung her around the room. Kissing each other with force, they then cuddled for a few moments. The remaining workers were all distracted by the sudden display of affection and squeals.

Finally planting Betty's feet back on the ground, Gio said to her, "I noticed you forgot your lunch B! So I thought I'd bring it up to you, with a little somethin' extra on the side!"

Grinning from ear to ear, he grabbed the ring and put out his hand waiting for Betty's hand. She placed her hand within his and he slipped the ring onto her finger. Before releasing her hand, he brought it up to his lips, kissed it softly then looked up at her. Still holding her hand, he said, "Thank you for making me the happiest man Betty. I promise to do all that I can to make you the happiest woman in the world too."

Betty pulled Gio back up to full height and cuddled him. Pulling out of the hug, she said, "Let's get out of here! We've got some celebrating to do!" Once she packed her bag, she flung it over her shoulder and grabbed Gio's hand. They walked out of the Mode building together swinging their hands in the warm evening breeze.
