The claws grabbed and scratched at him. They were stinging, and opening him up to bleed. But suddenly, the claws were not an attacker, but himself. He screamed and screamed, but all that came out was howling and snarling. The blackness was broken by a stream of red. There were dead animals on the floor, a dog, a stag, a rat. They were slowly turning into humans. His best friends were there, all torn open and dead. He had killed them. He was a monster. He shook and howled, crying, if that was at all possible. His throat was raw and he was shaking so much it seemed like he was an earthquake.
"Remmy! Remmy, wake up! Come on, please wake up!"
Remus shot up, his eyes wide and wet, and his throat raw. His breath hitched in his throat. He looked up and Sirius was kneeling in front of him. Sirius had his hands on Remus's shoulders, and his eyes were full of concern.
"Rem…"
Remus was shaking, and he was breathing raggedly. He let Sirius take him into his arms. He rested his head on his friend's shoulder, gripping the back of his nightshirt tightly. Sirius pulled the shaking boy onto his lap, and wrapped his arms around his small frame. He whispered soothing words in Remus's ear, trying to get him to stop shaking.
"It was another nightmare wasn't it, Moony?"
Remus nodded and Sirius
