So, this was the result of a random rpg game that took a really weird turn.
It was a knight's instinct, or maybe his nose that told Otter something was amiss down the hall. It didn't matter that he abandoned the fight or his newfound companions. He was the amazing otter knight and he could do whatever he wanted. He scurried on all fours, claymore clenched in his mouth. His nose twitched, directing him round a corner and in front of a very familiar door. It was not the door that held him in the room he awoke in, but the one opposite. Still despite its potential mystery something familiar still emanated from within. Otter didn't bother to hesitate and charged in, though what awaited him was far from what he anticipated.
She stood hunched over from the low ceiling, legs wobbling uncertainly. She was pretty, though abnormally tall, with long black hair flowing straight down her back, porcelain skin and big sparkling eyes. The word 'kawaii' instantly came to Otter's mind, although he didn't know why. This girl. This human girl. Otter did not know where she came from but was instantly struck by her beauty. Maybe, even…lovestruck?
He squeaked involuntarily, dropping the sword from his mouth. The girl flinched slightly at the clang of the sword on the stone floor. From her innocent demeanour Otter gathered she was not an enemy like the cat-folk or the beavers (seriously, how does a beaver disappear like that and come back naked?). He pushed himself up onto his hind legs, wobbling but holding his head high like a gentleman. As he raised his head however, he caught sight of something…odd. He had only glimpsed and thought of them as some woollen hat at first, but glancing again the Otter gathered them to be a pair of woollen horns atop her head. It couldn't be…
Otter gaped, darting his eyes around the room, putting more of the pieces together. The strange drops of liquid around her feet, the rather obvious pair of knitting needles in her hands, that goofy grin as she clacked them that said 'crocheting is the answer to everything!'
"…Buffalo?" Otter asked hesitantly.
Buffalo girl nodded and smiled. She knelt down gently and, carefully, patted Otter on the head. Otter quivered under the touch, mewling uncontrollably. Buffalo girl giggled, scooping her other hand under his body, raising it slowly to bring him to her rather ample chest. She held him close, Otter curling up in her hand instinctively. It was comfortable and close. Neither wanted to move. Not for anything, not even the distant screams of cats and lizards as they were brutally murdered by evil deer and sneaky lizards. Nope, they would just wait here together for the world around them to crumble, to which even then they didn't let go until the last of their body's faded away, along with a distant of 'I love you'. It didn't matter that they awoke without each other. They knew they would meet again. In another time, another reality, as different personas but deep down they would still have the same hearts.
