Come Out Fighting

Prologue: The Call for the Fight

The name's Kai, Kai Tomkins. I've been living in Mineral Island for a long time, and am still single. Back in World War II, I fought with the resistance fending off this whole island from the hands of the Nazi. Although we lost some of our best pal like Cliff, Zack, Mary, and my lover Popuri; but we've fend them off. After the war, most things return to normal, except for relationships. Jack and Ann married 10 days after Germany surrendered, and now have a son, Peter. Karen and Rick now have 2 sons and a daughter, and are now stacked up with jobs on running the winery, chicken farm, and supermarket! Gray and his wife, Helen, is running the library, and things is getting quite over there. Pastor Carter is preaching his common, boring sermons; with May and Stu as his helpers. Elli is now pregnant, and Tim closed the clinic for a while until their baby's born. As for me, I am now in a plane, heading towards Vietnam. Yes, after World War II, I recruited my self to the U.S Army. After years of training (and years of terrible meals) I was sent over to South-East Asia, and was on duty on Okinawa for 3 years. In 1967, I was sent over to Vietnam for a one-year tour of duty. Actually, I requested to be sent there since it's getting boring around in Okinawa. I've heard how nasty the fight there, but I don't care! All I wanted is some action, and action I will get, over in Nam!

(Letter for Home)

Summer 27, 1967

Dear: Jack, and Ann Harvest

"Hi there guys! How's it going over there in Mineral Island? Are things going well? Well anyways, sorry I couldn't write to you since I've been in training camp, and I've been moved almost all the time! Finally I'm able to write and send you this before boarding the Hercules military aircraft, heading towards Vietnam. I know I haven't told you that I'm heading there, but at least you know where I'm heading now. When you receive this letter, I was probably in the plane right now, heading towards Saigon. Or maybe, I was already in Nam. Well, gotta' go now! See ya' some other time!"
