Hai everyone, welcome to my little story. This is just my interpretation of the song You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift, just in Life with Derek form. The first chapter is very OC, but I promise that Derek, Casey, and the entire crew will come in soon. Please, comments are loved and I'd love some suggestions on the plot, my writing style, the usual. Oh, and I don't own Life with Derek, nor do I own the song. So please, enjoy?

YOU'RE ON THE PHONE WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND

SHE'S UPSET. SHE'S GOING OFF ABOUT SOMETHING THAT YOU SAID.

I guess you could say that I understood why people picked on me. I had knotted dirty blonde hair, glasses, and I shopped at the thrift store by choice. I could never play any sport – trust me, I tried just about every one that exists. Instead, I played the saxophone in my school's band, where I at least felt like I fit in. At lunch, I sat with my two friends at an empty table, right next to the group of weird boys the entire school referred to as 'The Future Serial Killers of Tomorrow'. If we were lucky, they wouldn't deliberately spill strawberry milk all over our seats. We were at the bottom of the social ladder – me, Alden, and Gussie.

Alden, you could say, didn't belong way down in the slums of my group. He fit in more … in the middle, you could say. He had been popular all through middle school, but then he decided to dump Jackie Parks at her thirteenth birthday party, and she made sure he'd never see the light of day again. After being rejected and terrorized all through grade eight, he just kind of … gave up. He let his brunette hair grow out down to his shoulders, and only brushed it every blue moon. Instead of wearing the Abercrombie and Fitch clothes that he used to, he went shopping with me at the local thrift stores and Target. He didn't talk much anymore, either …

Gussie and I had been attached by the hip since first grade. She had the looks and personality it took to become popular, but Gussie's hate for Jackie Parks overruled her hunger for social power. She never really told me why she hated Jackie so much … she always changed the subject when I brought it up. And I knew better then to make Gussie mad.

I guess I should share a little bit about Jackie now, since I brought her up so many times. She … isn't necessarily the stereotypical queen bee you see in movies. She's somewhat friendly, but manipulative and cunning … like Regina George from the movie Mean Girls. You have to plan out exactly what you're going to say, because if you let something slip around her, you can say your goodbyes. You'll be dead within the next two hours. Trust me, I know from experience. She practically lives across the street from me, since she's always spending time with her boyfriend. I think his name is Derek Venturi? Verturi? Ventree? Something like that …

I didn't get why he dated her. They were always fighting, whether it was over cell phone or in person. Sometimes I got the idea that they were plotting each other's murder. One day it was this, the next day it was that. It felt like I had spent my entire sophomore year just listening to them scream and fight from across the street. I honestly felt kind of sorry for Derek, even if he was the main reason my school life was so miserable. Haha, yeah, right.

So, that's the first chapter. Let me know what you think? Is it worth writing more?
