Heart of Stone

Jarod wanted them to lie in each other's arms. They had no one else, nowhere else to go. Just themselves if she only admit it to herself and him.

It was all so easy for him because there was never another woman for him, no other woman who could ever get so close to him.

Everything Parker gave him was everything he dreamt of since he first met her.

Her kiss, her smile, her heart…

Even now, after Carthis, after pulling her hands away from him, her back turned towards him, he can feel her reaching out for him. Even after walking away from him, he would always know where Parker was hiding, where he would always find her.

Jarod shook his head. He will never believe she has a heart of stone. He saw her tears fall when she thought she was alone.

I can't believe you got a heart of stone. I can't believe it.

Parker tried to make like he wasn't there to show him and those ever watchful Centre how she felt about him.

It hurt. She didn't have to hurt him with the hurt that she won't reveal to anyone else. Someday, he vowed, they would heal each other.

Jarod knew that there will never be another man who could get this close to her. He can give her everything that she ever dreamed of. If only she would let him.

I can't believe you got a heart of stone. I can't believe it.

He didn't need to a genius or a pretender to know that the more Parker hid her love for him, the more it showed. He felt it. He needed it.

I can't believe you got a heart of stone. I can't believe it.

Jarod saw Parker's eyes. He savored what he saw there. "Yes," even when she told him no.

I can't believe you got a heart of stone. I can't believe it.

A/N: This songfic was based on Taylor Dayne's 1990 hit single, "Heart of Stone". On YouTube, you can find the beautiful, straightforward video of her singing it with very little gimmicky f/x. Check out her video. I loved and still love this song. She's one of the great female vocalists from the 80s-mid-90s. They don't make her like they used to. When time permits, you'll see another Taylor Dayne songfic coming soon.
