Prologue

Virtual Reality

The Dark Side of VR. That is what people worry about. Being completely immersed in an environment that someone else has made isn't something many are entirely comfortable with. So very few genres of games are permitted to be on the devices that take you into this world.

However, a team of game developers protested against this. With the release of the brand new FiveSense, a brand new VR headset that transmits signals straight to your brain and nervous system, placing you inside the game, they wanted complete creative freedom. This sparked a massive debate in the gaming community. Eventually, creativity was allowed but the game had to be tested and approved by a team made up of game testers and authority figures.

Enter No Land Beyond. A brand new idea that sparked in the mind game developer Sean Miamo. He and his game company, Forman Gaming, began creating a world inside a computer where you could team up with others and play together to beat the game. The rich lore and imagining of Sean's world was brought to life by the company's head art director, Garrett Forman, the son of the owner of the company, and the lead programmer, Cocoa Miamo, the daughter of Sean.

No Land Beyond was made in an MMO style with RPG being the game type. Players were going to have to find dungeons and delve deep into the world to find loot and level up to raid the Castles which is where the bosses resided. When every boss is defeated, a countdown starts where every player in the game has the choice to face the Castle where He Lies where the hardest bosses sat on their thrones. Defeating this boss within the time limit meant the players in that room would gain a Legend Rank.

Legend Ranks were the main draw of the game. If you didn't have one, then there were limitations that you couldn't pass. For example, you could only get to Level 50 without one and items were level based. There was a rumour that you could also speak with the God of the game if you reached a certain Legend Rank but that was speculation.

But before a game's release, there was a Beta Build.
