Stargazer hid a young filly from view with her deep purple wing. The filly had just been born in the middle of a thunderstorm, most unlucky for the mare. Her mate whined out, calling her to get up as each boom of thunder and flash of lightning drew closer. The rest of the herd was far ahead, heading towards a cave in the distance. The filly pushed the ground with her turquoise hooves and got to her feet.
Stargazer nuzzled the little filly with her soft muzzle and looked at her closely with her deep brown eyes. "She will be a great one, our filly. She has colored hooves, just like the greats!" She nickered gently. Tunderhoof, the foals proud father walked over, his golden hooves clicking softly. "If she is go I g to be great we must name her, don't you agree?" His light orange wings brushed over the filly's small but strong turquoise ones. "I know just the name." Stargazer said softly. "Rainbrook."'
"Rainbrook come play with us!" A small filly called, her pearly white horn glistening in the crisp sunlight. This filly was the filly of the lead stallion, Sundancer. Her name was Pearl, one of the few names that would suit her. "I'm coming!" Rainbrook replied, landing on the ground. She shut her large wings and ran after them, her white mane flowing out from behind her. As she reached the filly two others came into view before a third's head burst out of the lake. "Ahhh! Shell, don't do that!" She whinied before she burst out laughing. "I can't help it!" The turquoise hippocampus grinned, foolishly. Rainbrook turned her attention to the other fillies, looking at each one. One of them was a strong colt with a chestnut coat and deep red wings. ' Emberhoof. ' She thought quietly in her mind. It made sense to, seeing as his hooves were just as red as his wings. She looked at the other horse who was another unicorn. She was a jet black filly, her long mane seeming to sparkle. ' Midnight ' She thought. "I have an idea, let's race! But for you pegasui, you have to stay on the ground." Pearl said. "But what about me?" Shell nickered. "You can race underwater!" Pearl replied, "so who's with me?" All of the foals cried yes except for Rainbrook. She was terrible at running and was not ready to face the swift unicorns. "Ready, set, go!" Called one of the fillies, she wasn't shure who. The other foams took off, leaving Rainbrook. She ran after as quickly as she could.
