Wish I Could Stay (English Version)

When Silver woke up after the demon's attack upon his town, when he learned he was dead and nothing more than a necromancer's puppet, when he understood that he did lose his wife and son, he had wanted to die. Permanently, this time.

He was unable to. The necromancer didn't let him success – and it was impossible for him to kill it. That demon could manipulate his movements as it wished.

He was unable to die.

If he decided to mastering the Devil Slayer magic, that was because he hoped to destroy Tartaros forever. Including the necromancer. In order to finally die.

He wanted to rejoin Mika. He wanted to rejoin Gray. He wanted to be at his family's side again.

He missed them so much sometimes that he believed his pain would break the curse and truly kill him. But the dark magic always was stronger.

He had continued to exist – not to live, he couldn't do this anymore – for seventeen years, and he did not understood how he managed to. To exist in this world deprived of the two beings which constituted his whole universe.

Maybe that was the reason why death seemed so appealing to him. Because they were on the other side, even if only oblivion waited for him.

Then the Grand Magic Games took place.

In the beginning, he did not recognize the dark-haired boy who was in one of the two Fairy Tail teams. He didn't recognize him at all and what kind of father doesn't recognize his son when he's just in front of him ?

It took the commentator speaking the boy's name for his mind stilling.

He didn't wanted to believe it. It was too good. He couldn't see a light leading him out of the abyss after seventeen years in Hell.

But it was there. It was real. It was Gray. His boy. With Mika's eyes in his face, and a smile which was only owned by the teenager.

His boy has lived.

He did not die, again. But it was surely a close call. A very close call.

He couldn't come back and see Gray. He couldn't. They have already been torn apart seventeen years ago – he had missed all those years of his boy's life – where was the point for a reunion, when Silver only survived because of sorcery ?

He wouldn't renew the bond. He wouldn't force Gray to say him farewell again. Maybe he was an undead, but he wasn't a monster.

He would stay away from the teenager. It was for the best, even if every fiber of his body screamed at him to run to Magnolia and search for the guild Fairy Tail and stay there until he could hold his son again. Even if his mind was tormented by unanswered questions.

How did he lived after Deliora's attack ? How did he found himself to Fiore ? This blue-haired girl who didn't let go of his hand, is she his girlfriend ? Did he have friends among his guildmates ? Is he as thoughtful as Mika, or is he as carefree as I was ?

He wanted so badly to know. But he would never know.

It didn't really modify his goal, ultimately. Silver would success to terminate Tartaros, he prepared himself since too long for let his plan waste away. And when he would have done it, he would be gone for good.

But he would go with a smile on his face.

Because it wouldn't be a suicidal, forlorn man's deed anymore. It would be the deed of a father seeking to protect the world where lived his child.

He could still protect his son, even if the boy would never know it. He didn't ask more.
