Disappointment

A/N:Takes place right after the events of "Quarantine" with Katie reflecting on Rodney McKay. This is my very first drabble. Thanks to my friend Shade Dancer who has inspired me to finally write. Please R&R. Enjoy!

It all happened so fast. I found out that Rodney wanted to propose to me, then the quarantine happened and everything changed. That was a couple of hours ago.
Rodney came in to the lab and told me that he was not quite ready for marriage yet. I guess being locked up in a small room thinking that you about to die gives you a little perspective.His feelings haven't changed any he said. At least that's what I like to believe.
I was really excited when I saw that ring. Right there I just wanted to jump into his arms and scream yes!
Couldn't he see the huge smile on my face? I asked if he still wanted to propose.
But then he stopped me, becoming very panicked and pessimistic thinking that he was going to die along with everyone else on the base.
The disappointment hit me from the moment he didn't want to propose again, and then later when he took it back.
I still love him, so I will keep moving through and just keep waiting…for Rodney.
